Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Eternal Darkness trademark

Eternal Darkness was my favorite game on the Gamecube. The insanity meter (and how it was used to "play" the player) was genius.

I'd take a sequel on any platform. Even a handheld if that was how I could get it. Nintendo should either use it or let it go.

Wasn't this part of RARE when it was sold to Microsoft?

Didn't Microsoft release a ED for 360?

Maybe a Virtual Console release?

nice

No, ED was made by Silicon Knights. The IP remained with Nintendo.

The first one didn't sell very well, and it's spiritual successor failed on kickstarter twice, I don't think the IP is worth very much anymore.

the reasons I see why it failed was because it was an episodic game plus Dennis being involved

personally I wasn't interested because of it being an episodic game

That was the first kickstarter, the second was a normal 8-10 hour game. But yeah Dyack was probably a big reason why they failed.

interesting, didn't know they changed that the second time

Not sure how it would sell if they made a sequel..

Right now, i have no interest in WiiU whatsoever. That would change with a new Eternal Darkness. I bought the GameCube because the Resident Evil excusivity back in the day, and i would surely buy a WiiU because of an Eternal Darkness sequel.

I thought they were already making a sequel?

whatever happened to Sillicon Knights

Made X-Men Destiny, was terrible along with suing Epic and lost so they went Bankrupt and most members moved to Precursor Games to work on Shadow of the Eternals

Failed to meet crowd funding targets on multiple occasions so got "put on hold" (cancelled)
