Forums - General Discussion - MovieTyme DVD imports to UK

Has anyone used movietyme to import to the UK before?

They say they charge import taxes, but how much are these? And how long does it take to deliver.

I'm looking for somewhere that imports PS3 and PSP games from America, and other suggestions would be helpful.

Anyone?

I believe videogamesplus.ca has a lot of European customers, you might check them out. As for import taxes, that would be determined by your postal service, not by the seller itself. You'd have to check with the customs agency of your postal service or whoever handles those matters.

@ goosegaws, thanks, they look quite good, I'll probably give them a go, although postage is free for movietyme

You could always just try ordering something small from movietyme and see what happens. Though I have heard that the dollar amount you purchase something for can have a lot to do with the problems you run into.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

@ akuma, it says that they charge taxes on anything over £18, I'm just wondering whether that means they will hold it somewhere, and then I will have to come and pay, or whether you can just pay on the doorstep. Anyway, I'll just try and order Patapon, and see what happens

@Munkeh111:

Whenever I've received a package on which I owed customs charges (I'm in Canada), the postal service would make an initial delivery attempt at the home. If no one was there to pay the charges and sign for it, they would leave a notice of arrival and take the package back to the closest postal outlet in order to await payment and pickup. They only take cash when they're at the door, also.

@ goosegaws, sounds good, much simpler

You will get a card through the door telling you to go and pick it up from your local PO. It will tell you on the card how much it is going to cost if its over £17.99.

I ordered the US versions of the Lord of the Rings boxsets and the charge was about £15 or so plus VAT!!

@ tmbh, thanks, I am going to try it out with something less that £18, to see how quick it is
Also, if you are there can you pay at the door when the give it to you, or do you have to go and get it
