The reason people had a problem with it is because the original title was Amazon Massive PS4 Shipment Explained, if I remember right.  The problem with that is that it  sounds like an official statement or the like.  If the title had said "Theory" it would've been okay because that's what the OP says.  

Yeah, your right, now I remember. I guess the original post could have just added a ? at the end of the title. "Amazon Massive PS4 Shipment Explained?"

Well, it was sort a running joke to say a baby seal died whenever someone brought up Amazon to prove a point about console/game sales, resulting in lots of pics of baby seals whenever a thread popped up about anything remotely to do with Amazon. So, yeah.

Anyway, my French is bad, so it seems we both learned something today.

Well, there are PS4s for sale everywhere here in Brazil, althought the price is really really high =/

ah okay that would make sense lol  these threads kind o are like clubbing baby seals.

 

My french is terrible i just remember it because in grade 4 we had a book in class about seals in french, and i thought it was hilarious how close it was to fuck.  and tried to use it as an excuse .

No this is not true. Of actual unbundled PS4's, I kept careful watch using the edit cart  trick once stock got under 999. It took about an hour for the last ~1k of unbundled PS4's to sell out. In fact they were selling about 17 per minute. This was around 8AM in the morning.

 

They were in stock for at least 17 hours, so at 1,000 an hour the shipment was probably 17,000 as an EXTREMELY rough estimate. Because sales would have likely been way higher during the prior evening, yet way lower during the dead of night hours. So we can make a guess they balanced out and 1k/hour was the average.

 

So they were definitely selling slower, about 24 times slower, than the 12k PS4's in 27 minutes thing. (because that is over 24,000 an hour).

 

Now, I did not keep track of the bundled PS4's, but all indications (and simple logic) say they were selling much less than unbundlede ones. I did check the BF4 bundle at one point I believe, it was selling at a rate of about 600 per hour (47 in 5 minutes). But this was after unbundled PS4's had sold out, so sales probably were higher than normal as people had no other options. But even if you take the straight estimate, it was ~half as fast as the unbundled PS4, so you can assume half of 17k were sold.

 

In other words i expect your 60-80k shipment guess is VERY high. My guess would be more like 25k. It's likely the bundles sold slowly as long as unbundled PS4's were in stock.  After all there were no savings in buying a bundle. Bundles only are a tactic to up retailer profits, they aren't preffered by consumer.
