I never said it was ready at holiday 2010. But it was ready before launch. Maybe at summer 2011 when they showed a very well polished demo.

And a delay is a delay. I can understand the circumstances, though, and that's why it still baffles me what are they doing.

They don't release Zelda titles on the hoem consoles outside of the holidays.  They ARE the end of year big title much like the mainline Mario series.

Which proves they are able to delay games to fit the traditional release date. They could well have finished at january 2015 and still release at holiday. And we don't know how much resources is Nintendo putting in this title. We though someone else was doing WWHD and in the end it was the Zelda team.

I agree it's a really smart move. It will appeal to Japan and the west, and it doesn't eat up Nintendo's limited resources since it's done by a third party. Plus, it won't delay Zelda U, and if that game doesn't come out until 2015, it at least keeps fans happy until then.

Yes, they will delay it to fit into the end of year schedule but not delay it a year simply because a spin off exists during the same year.

As for WW HD, that team also developed A Link Between Worlds.  Those 2 games would have a far greater impact on the release date of Zelda Wii U than will this spin off (especially as it's not even developed by Nintendo at all).

It took that team 5 years on an standard definition console to go from Twilight Princess to Skyward Sword.   Did you really expect a quick 3 year gap on a high definition console between Skyward Sword and Zelda Wii U?  And that this game, out of all 3 noted Zelda games, would be the one that pushes the release date back a year?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

like the OP im not hyped as i got burned out on Dynasty Warriors years ago. BUT it is a step in the right direction, Ninty is at least trying, so kudos are in order.

Is there gonna be MP? These series are used to having multiple characters to select from, I dont think Zelda has that huge a roster to pool from

Point 1 is plain wrong and point 3 is kind of moot as I doubt this will have a serious effect on sales for the series in the west, but point 2 alone makes this game worth it.

Never played a Dynasty Warriors game but Sengoku Basara on Wii was good mindless fun.

Who thinks there's a chance we'll get decent co-op and motion plus controls too?
I want a Zangeki no Reginleiv spiritual sequel!

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Nintendo has actually let 3rd parties use there franchises for a long time

Sega made F-Zero GX
Namco made Star Fox Assault
Capcom made Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Minish Cap

Yes, but all of those happened two gens ago. Nintendo hasn't done this very often as of late.

Except the Mario&Sonic-games, SMTxFE, and Smash Bros (developed by NamcoBandai).

Anyways, it's obvious, that these cooperations happen only with japanese companies. It's time to cooperate with western devs. And I know the ideal candidate for this. A company that already cooperates with Nintendo even on WiiU and games that sell well on Nintendo-consoles. You heard it here first...

LEGO Zelda

That would be huge!

That came out on PS3 a few years back. It was called 3D Dot Game Heroes :p

SS took 5 years because Aonuma changed the artstyle and controls with the motion plus implementation, not because it was 5 year development cycle. Also, from TWW to TP (which was a bigger jump) there was a real gap of 3 years. Don't see the point to not be released 3 years after SS.

Hopefully we get more characters to play with (Ganon,Yound Link, TINGLE?) because the game looks pretty fun already. It really was a nice suprise from Nintendo today. I thought they were putting Kirby in Mario Kart but when they showed Rosalina & Luma I was pretty satisfied too. The NES Remixes are right up my alley too.

1. Nintendo is letting 3rd parties work on their franchises. People have often criticized Nintendo for keeping their franchises too close, working on only a few of them and releasing them at a steady but unsatisfactory rate. In the past, people have said things like "Why won't Nintendo let Platinum Games work on the Star Fox series?"

Please name names so we can start to shame the shameful.

I provided a long list of 3rd party developed Nintendo games a few posts above.

Just let me get this straight: Alphadream is a 3rdParty? Since when?

Dunno what to display here, soon I'll know what to put.

Since the beginning, I believe. They've only worked on Nintendo hardware, and often with Nintendo IPs, but they are technically independent.
