Forums - Gaming Discussion - My subjective XB1 - PS4 comparison

ps+ is cheaper than XBL??? Uhhh, no.

Gold usually has sales, I usually get it for ~$35 for a year (say, a 12 month card at Amazon). I dont see those type of sales for PS+.

Most of the rest of it was obviously very "subjective" and I disagree with most. But I'll address one issue, the 40% less power one. I think it's already pretty apparent this isn't going to matter. More and more games are being announced at 1080P on XBO already (UFC, NBA 2K, NFS Rivals etc). Another thing is face-offs show the difference between 900p and 1080p is almost unnoticeable. It's become increasingly obvious to me third parties are not going to exploit the extra power on the PS4. It's just not worth it. So that leaves exclusives to show the difference. First of all although they are much talked about on forums, exclusives are a tiny minority of games sold (example, COD will easily outsell every MS let alone Sony exclusive). And judging for example by Shadowfall, MS has nothing to worry about. Does Shadowfall look great? Yeah. Is the difference between Shadowfall and top XB1 exclusives enough to get worked up over? I'd say the answer is a resounding no.

Around the Network

Fallen he is talking about the base prices of PSN vs. Xbox Live. In that case, yes, absolutely PS+ is cheaper. You can't even argue that. If you bring in sales, that's great, I'm glad you saved money on Xbox Live, I used to do the same at Costco. Point is, PS+ has provided many more bonuses in the form of good games than Live.

I get that this is a forum for discussion, but some of the reactions are kind of funny since this is, after all, an opinion. He stated upfront that this is fully subjective. As is any opinion. Actually he was fairly objective all things considered.

For me mulitmedia is not much an issue, but I can understand that it is for many. Sony has stated they plan on patching in streaming and mp3 playback, so hopefully that will come to be. There are certainly areas where Microsoft outdoes the PS4, and we will have to see if this cloud computing promise turns out to live up to it's promise(not expecting anything), but for now I'm giving Sony the edge based primarily on the library of exclusives that will most likely surpass anything Microsoft has to offer. Halo and Gears of War were/are two of the biggest reasons to have an xbox and honestly I'm pretty disappointed with the series as of late. But I've always been more of a Battlefield guy anyway.

Media and Multitasking: The One doesn't just have the edge here, it obliterates the PS4. The ps4 doesnt do mutimedia.

Internet: PSN is quicker and more reliable than LIVE... say what!!?? Now I know this is a joke thread.

it doesn't?  Weird, I was watching blu rays, netflix, Hulu, and other multimedia functions on mine.  I mean, okay, we don't have Cable and Sports, but I've not had cable or satellite TV for years due to the internet and netflix, sooooo....yeah.

Far as I'm concerned, Xbox doing multimedia is like Sony doing Betamax.  Great in theory, useless in practice.

dlna?  mp3's?  cd's?

multimedia isnt just video streaming services.

dlna is essential.

dont give me the yoshida says this and yoshida says that.  It is VERY clear what Sony wants.

IT's also very clear where your allegiences lie.

And frankly it disgusts me that I have to refer to heavy bias as 'allegience'.  Console war is terrible.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

The xbone doesn't support MP3's either.
