Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Manufacture Dates

Since PS4 hardware issues have been popping up, I thought it be a good idea to get a pool of when they were manufactured to see if there's a common link.

Mine is September 2013 (ya kind of broad, but atleast it's something) It's been working fine, except I've noticed the eject button is too sensitve. If I get within an inch of it the disc will eject. Other than that it's been working as advertised.

no issues have popped up here yet though. Its most likely wayyyy overblown (that's obvious to me).

This 1,000,000 times!!  People need to get it straight that "ALL" hardware will have some defects.  If this was a really huge issue, we would be hearing reports out the ass on Twitter, Facebook, Forums, etc.  And I have yet to see any bad PS4's being reported beyond what is normal.  Just so happens the internet is the biggest library of information as well and it's easily accessible so anyone that has a bad one can shout it from the roof tops all they want until it sounds like it's the biggest failure of all time.

Also mine is working just fine so far.

So, three PS4s working confirmed. I would like to see more people saying it is ok, but probably it would be hell on earth if it was more than 1% failure rate, so, I guess the silence means it is all good.

That said, I will wait, was thinking about getting a next gen console next week, but I decided to wait at least 6 months, will play the old ones instead.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Thanks for the replies. I also think these issues are overblown. For the record, another friend got a launch unit and hasn't had any issues either. Another friend will have his delivered today, so I'll report back if he has any issues.

At the very least, every report of working PS4s is setting my mine at ease lol!

Yeah it will always be best to wait a period so they can get any kinks out of hardware/software.  I would have waited till Infamous came out, but I was itching so bad for new hardware and Killzone so i couldn't wait.

Where do you look to see the manufacture date?

I have ran into a few issues, and even had to pull the plug one time after a system lockup but thats to be expected with a brand new launch. This is what i find most amusing, however, is that consumers these days are supposedly more informed than they ever have been, yet there are still individuals (even on this site surprisingly) that act as though they were completely blindisided by these issues. I knew full and well what i was getting myself into being a day one adopter and anyone who decided to pick one up day one have had several warnings from a multitude of media outlets about the risks of purchasing day one. While some reported issues are inexcusable, some should have been anticipated and not blown out of porportion the way they have been. Heres to hoping we dont have nearly this much controversy this friday, because im tired of this shit dominating the internet. Cant wait for my xbox, what a great couple of weeks.

It probably is overblown.  However, we won't know for sure until a year or so from now.  It could turn into as big of an issue as the RROD or it could just be a few systems.  One thing is for sure is that most Sony and especially Microsoft consumers seem to remain loyal even when they bought a defective system.  I could never forgive Sony for my launch PS1 that gave out at just over a year.  They did replace it with a newer model for $75 but I felt betrayed that the system barely lasted over a year.  Basically, it will take time to sort all this out.

There's a sticker at the bottom of the underside. It's really hard to read, I had to shine a flashlight on it, but it should say something like Made in China - Foxx and then the date.
