Also, they most likely showed this stage off to coincide with the release of SM3DW, much like how they've been unveiling characters with corresponding game releases, only this time it's a stage. That's probably because they don't have any other Mario characters, meaning no Rosalina.

Too bad your theory is already proven false lol! Rosalina can still be announced, There are 4 Mario characters in SSB, If you dont count Yoshi/Wario. SSBM had 5 (A clone which was Dr. Mario).

There is still a good chance Bowser Jr or Rosalina can be in the new game. There was no new person in SSBB also factor in pokemon had the most appearances of all franchises!

Then where is the proof? Sure there's no solid proof that those instances weren't more than mere coincidences, but cmon it's so obvious! Actually thinking back on it, when he revealed Xerneas right around X/Y, he basically said he showed it because of X/Y, though in a trollish manner.

You said since they showed this stage first then that means that wont show rosalina right? Well look at Fire Emblem stage on 3DS. Shown first but later revealed Marth. Also they will reveal Chrom next as the new challenger in the series. Also the launch is next week. We have to wait and see if he surprises us. Not to mention only Toon Link was showcased on that characters game released. Sonic was shown 2-3 weeks before Sonic LW debuted!!!

So this is what HD Super Mario Galaxy looks like.

I don't know if I can control my hype anymore.

That looks fantastic! Can you go around the whole entire stage? O.O If it is I can't imagine how it would work but I can't wait! For the sake of it, I challenge you Tbone51 when Smash bros comes out! mwahaha

The Fire Emblem stage was not shown off to corespond with a game release, so it' is irrelevant here. Also I'm pretty sure Olimar was with Pikmin 3, Luigi with New Super Luigi U, and it was always within a month, and iirc, the same month the game released in. If you wanna believe Rosalina will be in the game then by all means, I only said this was a possible reason for her not being in it, just to grind your gears, afterall.

These pics are yet further proof of how ultimately useless the existence of the 3DS version is. It can't and won't have stages like this, every single aspect of the game is going to be scaled back and watered down compared to the actual, full blown, HD Wii U title. And quite frankly, I think especially considering how much content they managed to cram into Brawl, I want to see them fill up that BluRay capacity disc to the brim with content, I don't want to see it "held back" in some misguided sense of parity between versions. That, to me, is beyond foolish.

But that Galaxy stage is pretty awesome, as is the Mega Man stage. I STILL will hold out slim hope of ever seeing Simon Belmont and a mind blowing CV stage in this game.

It might be gimped but who would wanna ignore selling it on a platform that will have a +40 million userbase by the time this releases.

You're right. It's already confirmed that certain stages are exclusive to a certain version. For example, I bet the Spirit Tracks stage is 3DS exclusive.

But I wouldn't blame the 3DS if the Wii U version isn't filling up a BluRay disc. I'd blame Wii U's internal storage.

This stage looks fantastic. I love the concept. I hope the planet goes all the way around, with two direct (and intriguing) gameplay implications: first, that players could only be KO'd UP. Technically you could hit someone to the side, but no matter where they are sent flying, it's "up" relative to some part of the stage. Meteor smashes would probably be rendered completely useless as a means of KOing opponents. Second, players on the "bottom" of the planet would experience inverted controls to an extent -- from the top, hold 'right' long enough and you'll wind up on the bottom, moving 'left' from the player's perspective. What happens if you stop and start again from there? Will 'right' continue moving you clockwise, or will the direction be reversed to accomodate your perspective? This could make battling exactly on the left and right extremes very challenging.

Enticing stage design. Sakurai does it again.

The 3DS version isn't useless! It gives us more options! For one, if someone who doesn't care about graphics and just wants some Smash Bros., then they can pay $170 minimum rather than $360 minimum for the game and a system. Also it gives us the option to Smash on the go, and each version will have unique attributes to them, so if you played one version enough and want more, then you can get the other version which should feel fresh and new.
