Best Resistance on PS3

Resistance: Fall of Man 32 31.37%

Resistance 2 18 17.65%

Resistance 3 52 50.98%

Total:102

So I wanted to make a thread with a poll for best PS3 exclusive since its time at the forefront is almost over.  However I found there were too many choices.  So I decided on some preliminary rounds in which the fans could narrow their favorite franchises down to one candidate to enter the finals.

This is an easy one for me.  Resistance 3 is a CRIMINALLY underrated game.  It's my favorite FPS ever and my love for R&C certainly doesn't hurt it.  Insomniac shows their creativity as the best weapon makers in the industry with the atomiser, freeze ray, the germ gun that makes them fight each other, and the shotgun that shoots fire.  All the guns had a fun secondary fire the most memorable of course being the mini black hole launcher.  The story was excellent and it had some of the most impressive set pieces this gen.

EDIT: The preliminary rounds will close at 4pm EST tomorrow.

Resistance 2 has a really good campaign, great co-op mode for 8 players and wonderful multiplayer for 60 players. Is the best Resistance in the serie.

resistance 3 was the best game imo.
But the co-op mode in R2 was so fun! I was dissapointed that they left it out in R3

Resistance was my favorite FPS series of this gen, so hard choice.

R1, my first ps3 game. Still go back to it from time to time.
R2, worst campain, best MP of the series.
R3, best story FPS I've ever played

I played the FUCKKKKKKK out of Resistance 2. That's easily my vote for the best in the series. Yes, R3 is underrated, with it's visuals and fun campaign. However, what R2 did at the time (2008) was unbelievable. 8 player online co op campaign and 60 people online? That game was just pure fun...

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Gotta go with 3. That game really surpassed my expectations. Loved the campaign.

Fall of Man had the mystery feel and had a unique and interesting way of telling its story. It also had the best atmosphere and the old England setting was nice.

Resistance 2 i found its campaign to be overall all lackluster with only a few good moment here and there. Although I think it has the best multiplayer in the series with 64 player and also the 8 player co-op was lots of fun.

Resistance 3 even though i found Capelli a douche in the second game he's by far the best protagonist in the series. They made the story more personal and just an overall great campaign. Its multiplayer was alright though.

For me it goes like this Fall of Man > 3 > 2

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Resistance 3, no competition at least for me.
Hated Resistance MP on all fronts though.

Undeniably Resistance 2. Awesome multiplayer that they totally dumped for Resistance 3. Shame.

R3 had a great storyline and the co-op did it for me (didn't like the ending at all...but yeah)
its a close one as R2 was great too

Really, really tough choice for me since I hold Resistance series so dearly in my heart.

R:FoM along with MGS 4 were the main reasons for me to go with PS3 this gen and get back to console gaming after several years overall.
I have a soft spot for games with alternative timeline and in which your protagonists or humanity isn't on the winning side (it did not fulfill the second point entirely). Also this game had a WW2 sort of atmosphere, and I love those type of shooters. England setting was definitely the most atmospheric in the entire series and it had the best supporting characters apart from R:Retribution. Mechanics and technologically though it was subpar to the sequels.

R2 was decent, it also had fun 8 player coop. Overall it was the low point of the series for me, not going to point why, those points are well known.

R3 had a quite amazing SP campaign, the dire situation of US in 1957 was really greatly portrayed, the art design was absolutely great. Story was maybe the best in the series. Definitely the high point of the series mechanics and technologically speaking, which is expected (great 3D mode, try it) although it suffered some AI bugs.
Looks like the clear winner, right? Two things though. And spoilers ahead (although the game is over 2 years on the market and 20$ or less for quite some time so you have only yourself to blame if you haven't played it)
First, Insomniac left out 4 years in which we don't know much what happened. They didn't explain why Earth is/was not in the Solar System anymore at the end of R2? Why there were 2 planets/stars on the skyline.
And second thing, the worst thing Insomniac did (because of what I will be their lifetime hater) and Sony did not disagree on, are those three minutes after the actual game finished. For three fucking minutes of "post cards", "photos" and radio broadcasts that talked about humanity winning the Chimeran War and rebuilding the society, they have practically destroyed any chance for a future direct sequel, ending the franchise as we know and love it. For that fuck you Insomniac Games.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!
