Forums - Gaming Discussion - Polygon: PS4's Need for Speed Rivals more visually impressive than PC version

I should have mentioned those games would more than likely be e0xclusives that are focused on the one console only, although there will be cases like the new 2k14 for next gen consoles while the pc build is based off the current gen.

EA do that with all games... FIFA, NFS, etc... PC uses PS360 assets while next-gen uses next-gen assets.

PS4 has unified 8GDDR5 RAM so they can have all the textures and other things on memory all the time instead of loading and unloading(approx 5.5GB for Games) which is possible only if have dual GPU in PC and this game is programmed based on Consoles specifications in mind. PC's have varied specifications so they can't expect all the texture data and other things that needed on memory and 8 cores CPU to make the game better but Consoles can be optimized so that's why PS4 version is better. Also there is no overhead of OS like PC and they can program game at low level in PS4.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

The PS4 version did suffer from a higher incidence of issues such as parts of the world failing to load . I doubt final version will look better thn pc. They will scale it to make it run optimal in final build.

The benefit if building to a specific chipset would be my guess.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Final tunning remove these issues... it will be fine.

The biggest issue is that PC is using PS360 assests and PS4 next-gen assests... EA do that with FIFA too... FIFA PC is always based in last year build for consoles.

Really. Is there a source for this? Hadn't heard any issues.

I guess u didn't read the OP.

@ethomaz - Well, maybe. lately alot of Ea titles using ps/360 assests, so this might be true for this title. We'll see at launch, how it ends up.

CGI-Quality said:

Even with that, you assumed it can't look better than the PC version, when in the same article you talk about reading, you missed the part where they said it would look better on the PS4.

thats coz ps4 version wasnt smooth while pc version was  indeed better performance wise, its mention in article. That's why i assume they will scale down ps4 verison to run it at optimal performance. Well u can get some really high graphics on console much better than pc but it will run like crap. What will be a real achievement, if they can make it look better and it run smoother. otherwise saying its visually stunning with low performance doesnt make console superior.

Well it's EA we taking here, Just w8 till release.

Sounds like they're doing a shit job with the PC port, which is par for the course for EA lately.

This not make any sense at all, ps4 can't look better than the max settings of pc versions...period.

They can if they're made that way. But really, I'd buy this on PS4 (am now, since DriveClub is a March title), because the PC version is locked to 30fps as is.

A racing game is locked at 30 FPS?!
