it's numbers are higher than 3ds, ps3 and 360 regular uk weeks, that's hardly "half-dead".

So you're telling me that during the 1st price cut week and the release of a strong IP game, Wii U managed to sell 1k -2k more than 8 year old consoles??? My God, Wii U is a BEAST

Let's put that "selling more than 8 year old consoles" point into perspective, shall we?

We're talking about consoles (PS360) that peaked much later in their life due to high launch prices, consoles that are now mass market prices with extensive libraries of games, and consoles that just had the single biggest entertainment product release (GTAV) in history revenue wise (not to mention sales monsters like COD every year).

When you consider that, a console less than a year old with a relatively tiny selection of games that is still the most expensive gaming console on the market beating systems with that kind of appeal is certainly noteworthy.

i'll just point towards the fact how Wii and PS360 were trashing PS2 in its 8th year.

In 2007 360 and PS3 were both outsold by PS2 which was 360s second full year and PS3s first full year. Wii U selling less than PS360 at this stage of its life isnt all that strange.

80% price cut 20% LoZ:WW HD. But it seems people want to attribute most of the boost to LoZ. When was the last time a next gen re-release was a massive system seller?

Most direct comparison would be OoT 3DS. When it released the global (excl USA) response was 28% HW lift. And in the USA a week later the lift was 117%. Nice boost for sure, but nothing like 600%.

I suppose considering the awful sales of Wii U to date the % increase from a game will be larger than it was for OoT 3DS as 3DS was selling decently at that time.

3 things

1. PS3 wasnt available WW thru all  2007 (plus the price)

2.Wii outsold PS2

3. PS2 is one of the kind cosnole. We will never see that kind of success again probably. PS360 are nothing comapred to it

same old people downplaying Nintendo's successes, however small. Now there's a surprise! Makes me wonder if they are closet Nintendo fans, given the amount of lurking they do in Nintendo forums.

I'll admit i was ignorant of PS2 outselling PS360 (tho i could understand the PS3) but the point still stands with the Wii

Zorg already admirably addressed your point.  By the end of the PS2's 7th year it had already sold over 120m units.  The PS360 were somewhat late bloomers regarding sales.  They were intended to sustain the longest generation the industry has ever seen.  As a perfect example I'll answer your post above with this:  The PS2 wasn't receiving games the caliber of GTAV in its 8th year.

Thats a pretty cheap excuse. And PS2 was getting popualr games in its late years (just not as popular as GTA) like GOW 2. And PS360 together sold 160m so i'd say thats pretty impressive.

And you're yet to adress the fact Wii as trouncing the PS2 in 2007 and 08
