Yeah, that was expected.

Hey criss, I just noticed in your sig., is that something Bungie actually put out to take a shot at Titanfall?

i did that

original

I see, it would have shocked me if Bungie actually did that in a shit talking way.

He (or she) looks so badass too.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

cool feature. what a bummer it will never be possible, since microsoft promised that facial data will never leave the xbox :(

well, they could still do it if you agree to be part of this. if people could get something cheaper then i'm sure some would really like this.

they already ask you with the first kinect on xbox 360 if you want to help to make kinect better and if you want them to allow to use your voice commands or whatever to make kinect better. as long as it is an option i don't have a problem with it.

Why are some people still defending this "console"?!?!?!

cause we don't care about such insignificant things as target marketing which is present all over anyway already, and irrelevant hw penis contest which will not inder the overall great entertainement experience the box will provide.... oh and have you seen titanfall????

Titanfall looks stunning but it isn't an exklusive. It was lent by EA for MS's presentations because of their partnership (we all know that these two switch their chairs regularly). I accept the entertainment argument although I'm sure the PS4 will provide a similar experience.

And i want to ask you something: Why are you defending policies which aim to sneek more and more in your private life? This industry should be mainly about games and having fun. I think the videogame industry is one of the most "innocent" industry, because there are mostly educated people into it. The companies want to earn money, but they don't walk over corpses like others (see Nestle, BP, walmart low wages etc). Thats actually really calming and should be defended and not destroyed by anti-consumer decisions.

So why are you and others defending these steps of MS? I don't want no fighting or dissing, just a rational discussion. We're all gamers and want vaguely the same: good times with our prefered console or other device.

I do not know maybe because I have two bachelors in marketing (business communication, and integrated marketing communication) and an MBA :D

I am not defending anything I do not use any google service for that very reason except YouTube since I do not have many options when people post a link....

What I do not understand is if people are using those services, and are going to get ads anyway, why do they fight so hard to have random stuff when they can get targeted stuff. Advertising is not evil as much as some people make it out to be. It is a mean of information on a product or service, you decide to buy or not.

Without it any financial plan, business plan, production management plan is moot. If you cannot communicate on what you have to offer and therefor sell something, you do not create wealth, which in turn allows a company to grow, hire more and pay their employee. It is the fuel of a company after the work force being the engine, even if a financial advisor like to think otherwise, without a good marketing and communication plan their jobs are irrelevant...

It is not as if they collect data to control your life behind, or at least it is not the first intent, if they do it is your own doing most of the time, nobody is holding a gun to your head to force you to buy something.

The real question is: will it allow things to stay cheap or to pay for itself and/or will the customer see some form of return for it. That is the relevant question here, not the pseudo invasion of privacy. Especially since marketing data do not need identification, "we" do not care who you are as a civilian, we care what your socio category likes and the trends you follow. pretty sure the data collected won't be  tied to an account and access by the advertiser...

It will be like: coke is signing up for an ad campaign. MS knows when the 14 yo kid is connected on polux348 account and is playing Kinect sport so they will throw in the powerade ad. When before you would have had the Toyota Yaris, which is completely irrelevant to the kid behind polux348. However, might be relevant to Vador614 in the same household, which just turned 18 and is going to college next year and is playing a lot of Forza. Well I just thought that out of my ass in 2 sec but you get the point.

It is not as if they are scanning your ID, your social security number, your financials and all, they (MS) just collect basic social data enabling them to sell a sounder media planning to the brands. Which is better IMO for the brands for sure but also for the user since he is getting the ads anyway but this time it might be of interest to him. I do watch the ads on YouTube sometimes when they seem to be relevant to me even if they last over a minute, for movies especially but I discovered some online services that way too

so I'm not defending it, of course I'd rather have an ad free service but we all know it's not going to happen and it will get way worst sooner than later. So yeah given the choice, I would rather have targeted ads instead of random ones. Especially if they sell the ad space at a premium to the brands that do them. it might slow down proliferation through increased ad revenue without increasing volume.... we must be careful when we fight something cause the end result might not be the one we expect....

and sorry for the agressive answer before, but with all the other tools arround here that would say it sucks even if MS was doing something right, I have a tendancy to not even look for an inteligent dialogue since it usually doesn't happen.... thank you for saving the lot... and enjoy your PS4 or whatever you have or will get... it's refreshing to have someone answer like that...

thank you

they don't need facial data for marketing application....

that's the entire point... there is no privacy invaded since all that matter is basic general information that have a value once correlated.... who you really are is completely moot to the point.... they don't sell product A to mister john doe... they sell product range XYZ to socio profile 30 to 40 male in shape with XXK revenue a year married with more than one kid.... who you are doesn't matter at all....

when you see facebook being able to do 1400 data points on average per profile, they don't need much to define basic trends.... correlation of factors put against known trends is the secret sauce....
