So if apple promotes buttons, wouldnt that help promote nintendos handhelds? Because i totally remember articles in 2011 saying buttons are a thing of the past, and now buttons are a thing again, so the 3ds/2DS has an up to date design now at a cheaper price than the iphone without the need for an accesory??

Yes some games will be a success on mobile devices but Mario, Link, Pokemon, etc is iconic. They stick in people and children's minds more.

Apple is a huge company and has been successful with games so it would also be odd to say they are not a threat to nintendo. They just arent the death of nintendo like the article says.

Any company can die and that includes MSFT/Sony/Nintendo. New competitors can join just like MSFT did 10 years ago, or nintendo decades ago. Look at Sony now, came out of nowhere in the 90s. So I would never say that Apple cant, i just dont think it is very likely.

Short version: The article has some valid points but I dont agree with it either.

Yeah me neither but to be honest... Every time I read an article like this I fear a little for Nintendo. Apple is a giant and the hit the jackpot with the smarthpones... I know they don't have the power of Nintendo franchises but I can't help it xD

This is what I don't get is this Nintendo doom theory. If the last six years have been terrible for Nintendo, what does that say about Sony. If Apple does move onto video games, it will most likely buy Sony. Apple would be crazy to go head on with three consoles on market.
