Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Titanfall : Other next gen shooters feel quaint

Another great impression of the game, Titanfall is definitely going to be a winner imo :)

Also I find it interresting that he played it with a controller.
I really feel this game will be awesome with a controller (even on PC)

I'm also happy to hear that COD: Ghost seems to be up to the expectations. I did not really played the last 2 (same old thing) but I'm kind of excited about the new one (maybe because it is coming up on new gen)?.

It will suck with a controller on PC. It's MP only so if you try a controller you will get destroyed. Especially this type of game when it's so fast paced.

That said I don't know. After the reveal my hype levels were high for this game. After gamescom though they dropped. I think I'll pick it up cheap somewhere down the line. May change my mind for it again though. Maybe it's just the map I saw sucked. The first looked way more fun.

The mecha + freerunning stuff does look really cool, but no single player campaign is a deal breaker for me; I don't much care for online play.

The reason he played with a controller is that it was the only option on the show floor. When the game comes out, you don't want to be the one with a controller playing against the mouse/keyboard guys. This game feels especially fast, which makes fast reflexes more important (and a faster control scheme than a controller).

LOL actually that isnt true. The game will be made with a controller in mind so the controls wont be any faster with mouse keyboard then it is with a controller. The controllers will have aim assist to make up for any short comings but a lot of games like GTA4 for example are built with a controller in mind so you see no benefit from mouse keyboard.

I guess you need to play this game down any way you can even if you have to make them up.

I mean, for a traditionnal shooter I would agree with you. But for this game, I'm not so convinced...

Even for a controller designed game I expect it would still benefit from the speed and fluidity a mouse offers.

Lol... They could spend 10 years designing it with "the controller in mind" and a traditional mouse and keyboard would still work better. The simple fact is that the mouse allows you to be precise and as fast as you want, were as a controller is limited to the players ability to move the analogue stick.

While aim assist does offset this, it doesn't make up for the reaction time difference. (at least as far as FPS games go. I can't even play FPS games online with a controller now, I just get to irritated by the slow down).

I honestly don't see how a controller can be better than a mouse. I've never even played on PC but from a logical stand point, it seems obvious that the mouse rules. Nothing wrong with that though, enough people will buy it on Xbone and I suspect it will even sell some systems.

The amount of praise it's getting from those who have actually played this pre-alpha version speaks volumes. I mean you've got fanboys so mad that the game isn't coming out on their platform right away. I bet 3/4 of the people who are petitioning for this game are the same guys who are talking all this shit with their played out "have you seen Titanfall" and "manufactured hype" and whatever else they're runnin'.

The MS heads need to chill though, if people want to say they can't wait to play it on PC or PS4 or whatever, who gives a shit really. You know you are getting the game on X1, just sit back and watch the positive feedback steamroll everyone, this is just the beginning.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

How is this game different from traditional shooter mechanics? Looks exactly like cod and every other fps as far as movement and aiming. Don't think double jump affects aiming. Regardless of how well the game plays, first person shooters are controlled better with a mouse.

@BOLD Mouse is better for looking around, while controller is better for motion. Dream setup would be move navigation controller in left hand and mouse in the right.

I'm really weirded out by the praise. Watching videos gets me hyped but the praise just seems fake for some reason. Maybe cause it's a spiritual successor to COD which until this year got buckets of manufactured journo love. I really don't know.
