Forums - Gaming Discussion - Splinter Cell Blacklist Performance Comparison – PS3/Xbox360/Wii U

I'm almost certainly going to buy this game for WiiU, but unfortunately it'll be a while since the price will be cheaper later and I probably won't have the spare time to play it this year anyway.

Hope Ninjablade sees this, Wii U version outshines the others without breaking a sweat. Last gen tech my ass, even more impressive is its only a port from a different team, imagine what the devs could have done building it on the Wii U from scratch.

Almost double load times, graphics only just on par with current gen, and lower average FPS than the PS3 version? (Only by 1 FPS but still, lower, LOL)

... Yup, definitely outshining current gen.

As i have stated, this game was a rush port handled by another Ubisoft team, who had less time to work on the Wii U version. So for it to outshine current gen tech is a credit to the devs, and also the ease of getting it to run on the hardware.

Yes, MosDef since it didn't need a mandatory install like the PS3(explains the load time) and in addition to lack of screen tears etc; the Wii U is outputting a higher resolution at 1080P vs 720P on the PS3. People need to stop being a Wii U hater.

My take on the Wii U version:

Very good game by itself but the loading times are ridiculous. We are talking about waiting close to 2 minutes before and especially after every mission.

Also, for the love of god, deactivate gyro controls for drone controls and sniper vision. The gyro controls are completely useless, they make certain parts of the game pretty much impossible to beat, especially the UAV part at the end sixth story mission. I was bashing my head in on this one for about 20 minutes before switching to normal controls beating the part easily in the first try.

No screen tearing whatsoever, which is extremely nice.

I still wouldn't call it an outstanding or even good port because of the missing local co-op and the extremely long loading times. I am confident that they could be improved drastically and that the dev probably didn't make proper use (if at all) of the eDRAM.

B+ for the game (haven't played SvM yet)
C- for the port job

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

ok, so wii U have no screen tearing, and textures in par with ps3, so graphically, wii U is better.
among other features: ps3 have mandatory install, but wii U have more loadings.

and about gameplay?
the gamepad diference makes the wii U gameplay better?

ill buy it eventually, but dont know if in ps3 or wii U.

Yes, why didn't they mention the resolution difference in the conclusion?

Where did you see that the game run at 1080p natively on Wii U?, we know the TV can output the game at 1080p, doesn't mean it's natively and i haven't find the information stating it.

Given that the console has more than 2 times the RAM available to games when compared to the PS360, long loading screens makes no sense to me.

I believe that this problem is an evidence that the the Wii U version of the game is just a simple port (and I don't blame them for that because unfortunately the Wii U version is not going to sell a lot).

While developing a game developers usually have can use the RAM memory to improve the performance in two main ways:

1) Prefetching -> load the next stage of the game before while the player is still playing the current one (quite simple to implement and test). They could easy do this on the Wii U version but it seems that they do not have the resources;

2) Algorithms adaptation -> trade off RAM memory for performance by using things likes Caches, Hashtables or other memory greedy data structures (takes a lot time code and test);

In all of the Wii U graphics dissections so far, I can't ever recall the Wii U version showing screen tearing.

(Thankfully, damn it's an eyesore)

Good! now that Nintendo got an awesome port which is superior to other consoles I wanna see it SELL!! no excuses this time.

Everyone who owns a WiiU needs to prove that if you are good to the Nintendo fanbase they will be good to you.

The best post of this thread so far. Who cares about the finer details, the site confirmed overall it is best version so no point arguing.

So  Nintendo fans

1. Same release date

2. Overall best

3. Ubisoft showing support with other multi plats.

CONCLUSION as think-man said, Nintendo fans need to DEMONSTRATE they are not all talk and support this game. Otherwise we may also see Ubisoft dropping support.

PS: I got the game on Wii U already.
