GameStop president Tony Bartel said the company's launch allocations for the Xbox One and PS4 are "much stronger" relative to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. He said GameStop expects a "significant increase" in launch quantities for both platforms.

Overall, Bartel described the launch quantities as "unprecedented."

He did not provide specific numbers, but said GameStop has bolstered its supply chain capacity for the upcoming console launch by 60 percent through using contracted distribution centers.

Regarding preorders, Bartel would not say which system had more at present. However, he did say that the PS4 "first-to-know" list currently has 1.5 million members, compared to 700,000 on the Xbox One list.

So likely PS4 is 2x that of Xbone.

I'm thinking that if Sony is getting 1m-2m to stores day one... then its pointless for me to attempt Ebay with any expectation of a decent ROI. I'll wait until Nov, but I'll likely cancel my pre-order.

And this is US only? PlayStation is already a bigger brand WW and that further proves the 4 to 1 ratio mentioned earlier. Sony is doing a marvelous job with the PS4!

To be honest I would have expected the first to know lists to favor PS4 by 5x or more.

Sony fans always have a much larger online presence and much stronger hardcore crowd so if anything these numbers were expected.

However, they won't reflect the actual market further down the line after launch.

Maybe if Microsoft manages price parity with Sony, if it stays $50-$100 more not sure more casual gamers will justify it.  Will be interesting over next 18 months.

PS4 is currently on track still to win US.

That being said it will be much closer than it looked earlier this year. MS is currently making one hell of a comeback and have seeb a significant lift in pre orders.

This holidaybin the US could be very close. 3 months ago it looked to be a PS4 slaughtering victory but not so much anymore.

At the end of the day I expect a PS4 victory this holiday but not a blow out.
