Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS3/Xbox 360 Launch Titles Vs. PS4/Xbox One Launch Titles

Alright for some time now people have kept complaining about the graphics of some games on the PS4/Xbox One. I see people comparing the launch titles on 8th gen consoles to games on the PS3/360 that have come out 5 or 6 years into the consoles life cycle. Well quite frankly it's getting annoying and I'm going to compare the launch titles of the 7th gen consoles to launch titles of the 8th gen consoles. You have to realize that it takes time to take advantage of a consoles full potential and you need to give developers time to get used to developing games for brand new consoles. Without further ado...here we go.

Forza Motorsport 2 (2007, not launch title but close enough)

Now let's compare to Forza Motorsport 5, which is an Xbox One game.

Now let's go into some FPS games.

Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3 launch title)

Comparing it to another launch title FPS on the PS4, Killzone Shadow Fall

Lastly I'll do a third person game. Uncharted Drakes Fortune, it was released in 2007 so not exactly a launch title but close enough.

Comparing it to The Division. I'm comparing it to the Division because, just like Uncharted, it will release about a year after launch. They said it was PS4 footage that was shown at the press conference so don't yell at me if the game doesn't look this good when it's released for PS4/Xbox One.

I just really get annoyed when people say they aren't impressed with the graphics of the launch title games on the PS4/Xbox One. You need to give devs some time to get used to the hardware so that they can release better looking games.

Also I'm not comparing Wii to Wii U because if you can't see the difference for those two consoles then you're just a lost cause.

Looks like Resistance ran with a resolution of 320x240.

Anyway, I just told you that such a comparison is pointless, because the average gamer won't judge the improvements this way.

Lol yeah I wanted to make every picture the same size so I had to stretch out the Resistance picture by a lot which makes it look bad. Oh well, even at 320x240 it doesn't look good haha

Wow, but how can graphics get much better than Killzone and Watchdogs? Both games look so good.

Agreed with the bolded, but I'd really hope people discussing video games to death on forums are better then the average gamer.

In my opinion the funnest thing is going back through old threads around other generation changes. It echoes the current situation so perfectly. Heck remember xbox 1.5? People are just silly. On that note though, if the OP has time, you should through in pictures from other system launches. The difference between PS2 and PS3 is always amusing.

Facial Animation, more realistic lighting and finally realistic water (rain did look good on watch dogs, I was surprised).

Plus character appearance being affected by the weather, features like that.

Nobody can predict the future, but hell people like to speculate.

not a big leap. lol spoiled brats.

resistance didn't look that bad something is fishy on those screens

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Wow, sounds compicated! I don't make a big deal about graphics so if all games look as good as Killzone and Watchdogs next generation then I will be more than happy.
