1985 was an awakening for gamers like myself, having grown up on joust, frogger, and centipede.. This year harkened the arrival of a new age in gaming. With it came more fluid action, new genres, deeper journeys, and a new hope for the industry. But like always we can't buy every title and only one game can be king. So what was your best games?

Mario, no contest.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

I could have given it easily to Ghost n' Goblins if it wasn't because the game forces the player to beat the game twice. So Mario.

we had this at our movie theater. one time i skipped the movie so i could get better. Im pretty sure "navy seals" sucked anyway

Well, for me Super Mario Bros is unquestionably the best game on that list but I didn't actually play it until about a year later on Nintendo's Play Choice arcade units.

So just going by what the best game I actually played that year was I'd give it to Space Harrier. Playing that game in the arcade on the sit down unit was pure bliss. I also played the hell out of Ghosts 'n Goblins, Gauntlet and Yie Ar Kung Fu.

Well, you are missing 'Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves' and 'Herecles' but not completely sure both of those are 85.

Of those you suggest only 'Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar' is a truly amazing innovative game.

I bet most of the people that chose Super Mario Bros., a game that get remade every year or so, didn't play it in 85.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Well, game endings were bad back then. Really bad! Thats pretty universal for the 80s. So being told to replay it isnt much worse than a "congradulations" screen. Don't you just hate those?

lol lifes tooo short to save every princess.

Another tough one to pick - games I remember the most from that year are Gauntlet, Ghost and Goblins, Tau Ceti and Spy vs Spy. I played Ultima IV and King's Quest II few years later, so I can't say I remember them from 85, though they are.

If I'd have to pick one, it would probably be Ultima, that game had big influence on RPGs to come after it.
