Wi U to win this gen confirmed.

Well I guess that means the XB1 DRM reversal was key to getting support. Pretty impressive of MS to sell out of pre-orders even at $100 more.

Launch isn't going to mean much regardless now that things are selling out. March and April and the months after sales will be more telling.

A brand new console selling out of consoles isn't that impressive.

Not true. A good marketing strategy is probably the biggest proponents of device sales. Price certainly helps but it is far from the deciding factor of a sale.

After all; if what you said was true then why was the average selling price of the 360 higher than the PS3 in 2011 (and assumably the years following that since the PS3 got price cuts whilst the 360 got none).

http://www.destructoid.com/npd-even-at-a-higher-price-xbox-360-outsells-ps3-213866.phtml

Speaking of average prices is really just ridiculous.  What matters is the entry price when people are really focusing on price.  Which is going to be a bigger factor when the gap is larger than $50, or the paltry $35 that article suggests.

No, you don't understand what I was getting at. He says that price is the deciding factor. That article that I referenced shows us that his assumption is certainly not always true. Average price point in the 360's case simply means that on average, the more expenive models were bought. Whereas if his assumption was correct the average price point would be below the PS3 since a far greater number of the cheapest versions would be selling.

Want more proof? Look at the iPad or any of the really nice, expensive, popular phones.

Third party offerings coupled with a great price helps.

Especially when it has very limited supply.  I find it interesting that even with the flood gates "opened" for the PS4, since it had good supply, it still sold out quicker than the Xbox One.

That article is completely skewed, though.  That was the same month that the $399 GeOW 3 bundle launched, so of course the average price would go up.  And most PS3's were probably going for the new $249 entry price that Sony announced the month before.  Given all that, it's amazing it was a mere $35 difference.  I would bet in a normal month, the PS3 has the higher average price, or at least on par.

i think M$ will try to change or add more benefits as much as possible for XBO deal to fight back this, and it will only be good news for all loyal XB fans

I think so as well. I think this whole mess is going to be great for xbox fans, me included. They will be giving more deals and maybe even making things cheaper then they originally wanted. Which is a win for me.

Then by your logic, this article means nothing.

Well, it seems the Xbox One has recently sold out on Amazon.  However, it wasn't enough to push it over the launch edition of the PS4, which still rests comfortably at #3 for the Best Sellers of 2013 (So Far).  The Xbox One was able to end up at #6.  Of course, what's quite impressive with the PS4's position is that on Amazon, the PS4 was split up amongst several SKUs, while the Xbox One only had 1 SKU.  Some of the PS4's other SKUs have broken the Top 100, as well.  The BF4 bundle currently sits at #92.  The Watch Dog bundle sits at #77.  And while the Standard Edition currently sits at #66, it is still available, so it will most likely be heading up the list quite quickly.

Many may remember that in late June, a Gamestop memo was leaked that stated that Sony basically told them to open the flood gates for preorders.  Even with a seemingly endless supply, the PS4 has already sold out of every one of its SKUs on the Gamestop website.  On the flip side, Gamestop was warning stores to not take more preorders than they were alotted for the Xbox One, due to limited supply.  It seems that even with this limited supply, Gamestop has still not sold out of Xbox One's online.  I think it's pretty safe to assume, the PS4 is going to greatly outpace the Xbox One in Gamestop sales.

On a related topic, if one were to look at Amazon UK, the PS4 is also #3 for Best Sellers for the year.  The Xbox One, on the other hand, is only at #44.  I think it's safe to say that the PS4 is going to enjoy a very good launch in the US and the UK, two Xbox strongholds of last gen.  I think Sony is about to take back the US and the UK.  What say you?

So how many of each sku?

or you just writing a page with out any facts, numbers or sales. We don't even know how many of each sku. Plus Amazons sales records have been rumored to be a mess.

Also wait until MS Marketing Machine kicks in to high gear. Everyone is going to want one. Next year they will release Illumi-room. boom. Hardcore will love Illumiroom. It's the most immersive play style I have seen yet.

Sorry, I just can't take this thread serious. It's just way to early. No numbers or facts makes it hard to say anything. People will forget about all this DRM by November.

Do you honestly think Microsoft is the only company to have something like illumi-room in development? Sony released a video of their version of illumi-room back in 09, three years before MS did.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.
