Hey guys, way out of my comfort zone here, so my old man passed a PC game to me and was like i need a new tower than can make this game work. So i know nothing about PC gaming, he wants to play Football Manager 2017

The requirments are

OS: Windows Vista (SP2), 7 (SP1), 8, 8.1, 10 (1607) – 64-bit or 32-bit. Processor: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core or AMD Athlon – 2.2 GHz + Memory: 2 GB RAM. Graphics: Intel GMA X3100, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT or AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 – 256MB VRAM.

So what would be an optimal PC to play this game? just a simple to read bullet point list of what he should be looking to get (it doesnt need to play it at max settings) that i can pass on to him. Thanks guys.

Basically any desktop with an i3 + 4gb of ram should be able to play this game.

There are quite a few laptops on sale around this time that has an i5 + 8gb of ram usually for the same price as the msrp i3 models so if you can have a lookout for those, you are golden.

Welcome to this part of the site .

Those are the minimum specs, and they won't be enough to run the game well enough for a pleasuring game experience. What monitor will he be using? A FullHD one?

Its already given me a sun tan.

I believe so yes.

From what I've read, the game seems to be CPU demanding. That mostly rules out the use of an AMD CPU, leaving Intel as your only option. Unfortunately, Intel's integrated graphics aren't as good as AMD's (you can't have it all).

I think that any PC with an Intel i5 (4 cores versus the 2 of an i3), 8GB of RAM and a low end card (an RX 460 or GTX 950/1050) will be enough to run it.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I also bought dem Sennheiser HD 598s for $109 CAD. Normally they are $300 CAD

So in other news, I gambled with black Friday and tell me if you guys think I made the right choice.

So I saw a Samsung 850 Evo 500GB for $150 CAD, normally $210. So I bought it asap, and then a deal came for the Crucial MX300 750GB for $140 CAD. So I thought about it and went with the 850 cause while I am getting 250GBs less, the performance is way better.

So what do u guys think?

I'd always choose performance over space. If I chose an SSD or HDD that was bigger, but has that bit bigger chance of failing or having a shorter lifespan, then it honestly wouldn't be worth it to me.

And I got it for less than 400 €, which is quite unvelievable for a GTX 1070 over here.

The jump in performance from my trusty 5850 is going to be astronomical .

Less than 400 EU?, damn son you got a steal.

I'm thinking of getting either a 1070 or 1080 next year. I got no hopes for a decently priced 1080ti lol, not going to happen with Nvidia.

Could say, you sold your friends to the "other side" =P.

I haven't seen any good UK deals to go for yet, besides a keyboard, but I'm actually thinking of going for a left handed palm keyboard. I saw one years ago in a local electronics store during my college years, but I thought it was goofy looking and silly. Fast forward to today and I'm actually wanting one since the idea of having a palm based keyboard sounds like the ideal method for my FPS games.

Like this Razer one, only not in the £100's lol.

I'm going to go see if I can find one for at least £60.

Been some years since I last played DOOM 3, but it's nice to see that some users got VR working for it.

Well, this was fucking scary. Last night just before bed I wanted to check something on my PC. I switched on my other 2 monitors and saw graphic issues one my gaming monitor. While trying to check and fix it my PC completely crashed. When I rebooted it Windows refused to load.
The scary part was that it didn't even try to load Windows. It shows the windows logo without the loading animation and then just does nothing. I had this issue before but back then a simple reboot helped, but not this time.
But now the really scary part. As any savvy user would do I used a Win 10 boot stick to either recover the system or to just reinstall it. But I got the exact same issue while trying to boot from USB. After that I tried using Hiren's Boot USB. Couldn't load either. I was basically completely locked out of my PC.
What in the end fixed the issue was switching to my replacement GPU and back. Now it runs as if nothing ever happened.

I swear, My GPU, its driver, Windows 10 and my monitors fucking hate each other.
