Dino Crisis Rebirth is a Dino Crisis Remaster that can take advantage of the DirectX 9 API
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/dino-crisis-rebirth-is-a-dino-crisis-remaster-that-can-take-advantage-of-the-directx-9-api/
As you may already know, an indie team is currently working on a remake of Dino Crisis in Unreal Engine 4. However, there is also another project that all Dino Crisis purists fans will appreciate. This project, called Dino Crisis Rebirth, aims to remaster the original PC version for modern-day PC systems.
Developed by Gemini, Dino Crisis Rebirth looks really promising and will release soon. My guess is that its creator targets a 2020 release. Gemini has also released a new gameplay video, showcasing the new DirectX 9 renderer that the game now uses.

Lol, saying making the game fir for modern computers... and then just using a DX9 renderer...

Chinese open world RPG becomes a Steam top seller, English coming soon
https://www.pcgamer.com/chinese-open-world-rpg-becomes-a-steam-top-seller-english-coming-soon/
It seems like every few months a Chinese indie game is rising to the top of Steam's top seller list despite only being available in Simplified Chinese. Games like Chinese Parents and Scroll of Taiwu achieved massive success last year, selling well over a million copies each. It's a good reminder that Steam's second largest demographic hails from China, but it's also a cool insight into a vibrant world of games that aren't available in English.
Sands of Salzaar (or 部落与弯刀, which translates more directly to Tribe and Machete) only released on January 2, but in that time has rocketed to into Steam's global top seller list with an estimated 50,000 sales in its first week. That number is expected to reach 200,000 by the end of January. Though it's only available in Simplified Chinese, Sands of Salzaar has amassed over 2,600 "mostly positive" reviews and is currently the 31st most-played game on Steam by concurrents, with peak concurrent players reaching 21,000—in the neighborhood of games like Stardew Valley and Skyrim.

Chinese is now Steam's most popular language, according to its hardware survey
https://www.pcgamer.com/chinese-is-now-steams-most-popular-language-according-to-its-hardware-survey/
Simplified Chinese has become the largest language demographic on Steam, according to the results of Valve's December 2019 Steam Hardware and Software survey. Each month, this optional survey collects basic system configuration data on a portion of Steam's 90 million monthly active users ranging from what CPU they're using to how much free space players have on their hard drive. This survey also collects data on what language users have their Steam client set to, and, until now, English was the dominant choice, typically representing around 30 to 40 percent of users.
That has changed as Simplified Chinese language users rocketed up to the number one spot in December 2019. Simplified Chinese is now the language of choice for 37.8 percent of Steam users who participated in the survey, climbing a significant 14.4 percent in the last month's survey. As a result, English users shrank to 30.4 percent.

New nude mod released for Monster Hunter World, featuring boobs physics
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/new-nude-mod-released-for-monster-hunter-world-featuring-boobs-physics/
Battlescars has released a brand new nude mod for Monster Hunter World, featuring bouncing boobs. From what I can remember, this is the first nude mod that features boobs physics, therefore some PC gamers may be interested in it.
Unfortunately, this mod is a bit “polygonal“. Moreover, it appears that this nude mod lacks some details. For instance, the nipples appear flat and unnatural. Still, there are bouncing boobs so that’s at least something.

Resident Evil 2 Remake mod unlocks the animations of distant zombies from 30fps to variable or 60fps
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-mod-for-resident-evil-2-remake-unlocks-the-animations-of-distant-zombies-from-30fps-to-variable-or-60fps/
One of the most annoying issues of Resident Evil 2 Remake was the 30fps animations of all distant zombies. This is something that annoyed a lot of PC gamers. And even though Capcom has not addressed this mechanic, there is a mod that finally unlocks it.
The “Zombies at a distance less frequently” mod unlocks the animations of distant zombies. Right now, the mod offers two options. You can either lock the framerate to 60fps, or have a variable framerate.
>> This mod is at Nexus Mods too.

This mod for Skyrim Special Edition can unlock your in-game refresh rate from 60Hz to 300Hz
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-mod-for-skyrim-special-edition-can-unlock-your-in-game-refresh-rate-from-60hz-to-300hz/
Skyrim fans, here is another must-have mod for you. While the game supports uncapped framerates, it locks your refresh rate to 60Hz. Thankfully, though, SlavicPotato has released a mod that can unlock your in-game refresh rate from 60hz to 300hz.
The ability to use high refresh rates is crucial for those that want to enjoy the game with higher framerates. In case you weren’t aware of, a 60Hz game will feel like a 60fps game even when you’re having higher framerates. As such, this mod is a must-have for those with 120Hz or 144Hz monitors.
According to the modder, the plugin is passive. This basically means that after it performs the patch, it immediatelly unloads so there’s no additional overhead.
Last but not least, the modder also suggest using the HavokFix SKSE plugin. This plugin is said to be an easy all-in-one performance-optimized solution.
>> Not enough for those new 360Hz Nvidia monitors. Anyway, you can get this mod from Nexus Mods.

Steam is making big changes to the way it handles game soundtracks
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-is-making-big-changes-to-the-way-it-handles-game-soundtracks/
One thing about Steam that's always been kind of a low-key pain in the ass is the way it handles game soundtracks. They're sold as DLC, which means you can only buy them if you own the base game, and if you want to download them to your PC you must have the game installed first. It's also a hassle to manage your music, because Steam has no built-in functionality to handle it: You either have to browse for it on your hard drive manually, or access it via the DLC tab in the game properties menu in your Steam library. It's not the worst thing ever, no, but it sure could be a lot better.
As of today, it will be—for new releases, at least. Valve has unveiled a new system for game soundtracks on Steam that will decouple them from their associated games and allow them to be sold standalone as a new "soundtrack" app type.

Speaking Simulator, on the surface at least, is very clearly a gag game in the vein of, say, Goat Simulator. The premise—you're an android trying to infiltrate human society through the power of casual conversations, a process that involves using WASD keys to manipulate your tongue while simultaneously maneuvering your jaw with your mouse—is is inherently silly. Super Crush KO is a fast-paced brawler that blends beat-em-up with run n' gun combat. You play as Karen on her mission to save her cat Chubbz, a.k.a The Cutest Cat in the Universe, from a robot army controlled by a fashionable alien commander. The machines are also trying to enslave humanity, but saving Chubbz is a top priority.

Hearthstone's new solo adventure launches January 21, adds 35 new cards
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstones-new-solo-adventure-launches-january-21-adds-35-new-cards/
Presumably because it's hard to keep the arrival of an enormous, world-ending dragon under wraps for too long, Blizzard has announced that Galakrond's Awakening is scheduled to land on January 21. For those not keeping up with Hearthstone's current scaly shenanigans, said Awakening is the new solo adventure that's coming as part of the Descent of Dragons expansion.

Doom and Doom 2 now run at 60 fps thanks to a new patch from Bethesda
https://www.pcgamer.com/doom-and-doom-2-now-run-at-60-fps-thanks-to-a-new-patch-from-bethesda/
The original Doom and Doom 2 were great shooters in their own right, but what made them enduring was their support for external WADs—new levels created by fans and shared through pre-internet BBSes and commercially available CD collections. Now Bethesda has brought some of that functionality to the game, minus the hassle of dicking around with a DOS prompt, with the addition of support for "add-ons," a curated list of official Doom and Doom 2 content plus "some of the best community episodes and megawads," that will be accessible from the main menu of both games.

Online WW2 shooter Days of War leaves Early Access at the end of the month
https://www.pcgamer.com/online-ww2-shooter-days-of-war-leaves-early-access-at-the-end-of-the-month/
We first took notice of the multiplayer Second World War FPS Days of War in early 2017, when we said that it appeared to be aiming for a higher skill ceiling than other online shooters: "Anytime you see 'Challenging Recoil' listed as a selling point in a trailer you know the game means business." Three years down the road, Driven Arts and Graffiti Games have dropped a new trailer to announce that the full release has been set for January 30.

Dota Underlords is leaving Early Access in February
https://www.pcgamer.com/dota-underlords-is-leaving-early-access-in-february/
This week's Dota Underlords update was accompanied by the news that it's almost broken free of Early Access and will soon hit 1.0. It launched on Steam back in June, and in February the first season will officially kick off.

Lucasfilm wanted Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to be about bounty hunters and blasters
https://www.pcgamer.com/lucasfilm-wanted-star-wars-jedi-fallen-order-to-be-about-bounty-hunters-and-blasters/
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order would have had a very different name and focus if Lucasfilm got its way when Respawn initially pitched the Force-powered action game. According to game director Stig Asmussen, the company had to be convinced to green-light a game about lightsabers and Jedi.

Apex Legends is throwing a two-week fancy party
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-is-throwing-a-two-week-fancy-party/
Apex Legends is hosting an irresponsibly long party, starting on January 14 and running for two weeks. There won't be piles of Ferrero Rocher, I'm afraid, as this Grand Soirée is not that kind of party. Instead of fine dining and polite conversation, expect murder, new and returning limited-time modes, and prizes.

After its initial release on the consoles in September of last year, the expansion for Monster Hunter World has finally released yesterday for PC, along with Patch 10.12.00. Unfortunately Iceborne seems to have serious optimization issues.
Right now the game’s rating on Steam is ‘Mostly Negative’. Most of the negative reviews express disappointment regarding the game’s performance. Even so, the number of players has been tripled since December, meaning numerous people were excited for the release of Iceborne.

Land of Vominhem, The Witcher 3-inspired fan expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/land-of-vominhem-the-witcher-3-inspired-fan-expansion-for-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-released/
Modder ‘venjhammet’ has released a new fan expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Land of Vominhem is heavily inspired by The Witcher 3’s Skellige and brings to the game a large archipelagic and cold land.
This expansion features five islands which are: the Mainland itself, Fallvern, Frostfang, Northwind Bane and Banefrost islands. Moreover, this expansion is available for both the Original and the Special Edition versions of Skyrim. This expansion is also roughly the size of Solstheim and has dozens of locations to discover and explore.
>> This mod is available from Nexus Mods: head over here to get it for the Vanilla edition or go here instead for the Special Edition one.

This 4GB HD Texture Pack for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim overhauls almost all of its textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-4gb-hd-texture-pack-for-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-overhauls-almost-all-of-its-textures/
Modder ‘Pfuscher’ has released a brand new version of his HD Texture Pack for Skyrim Special Edition. According to its description, the “Skyrim 2020 Textures by Pfuscher” mod aims to completely overhaul almost all of the game’s textures.
The latest version of this HD Texture Pack is 4GB in size and you can download it from here. Do note that this is only for Skyrim Special Edition. Moreover, there is an alternative HD Texture Pack add-on for Whiterun’s streets.

Slayer’s Testaments is a Doom Eternal mod for the original Quake, early version released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/slayers-testaments-is-a-doom-eternal-mod-for-the-original-quake-early-version-released/
Modder ‘jackoneill45’ has released a pretty cool mod for the original Quake game. As the title suggests, Slayer’s Testaments brings the enemies, weapons and gameplay mechanics of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal to Quake.
Slayer’s Testaments takes advantage of the Dark Places Engine, and actually looks retro-cool. This is a mod that a lot of Doom fans will appreciate as… well… it’s a free Doom game.
The mod allows you to play Quake’s four episodes with the enemies and weapons from Doom Eternal. Moreover, it comes with some re-imagined maps from Doom 2016 and classic Doom.
Unfortunately, there are some balancing issues right now with the Quake campaign. For example, the mod replaces the Ogres with the tougher Hell Knights. Not only that, but their hitboxes are not that accurate. Ammo is also sparse so most of the times you won’t really feel as the Doomslayer.

This mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 allows you to rob banks
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-mod-for-red-dead-redemption-2-allows-you-to-rob-banks/
Unlosing and Jedijosh920 have released a really cool mod for Red Dead Redemption 2. As the title suggests, this mod allows you to rob any of the supported banks in Red Dead Redemption 2. Furthermore, and once you rob a bank, you’ll be wanted by the law.
From what I can tell, this mod basically uses the mechanics from one of the game’s main mission. In case you haven’t played the game, you’ll have to rob a bank at a certain point. Thus, the modders have borrowed all those gameplay mechanics, allowing you to rob any bank in the game.
>> I'm surprised to discover that you couldn't do it in the game. You can get this mod from Nexus Mods, but you'll need ScriptHookRDR2 to make it work.

New version of Ultra Exterior Lighting Mod for Fallout 4 adds more dynamic light sources to exteriors
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/new-version-of-ultra-exterior-lighting-mod-for-fallout-4-adds-more-dynamic-light-sources-to-exteriors/
Gargorias has released a brand new version of his Ultra Exterior Lighting mod for Fallout 4. This mod, in case you weren’t aware of, adds shadow cast lights to many of the physical light sources in the Fallout 4 exterior world including Far Harbor and Nukaworld.
The mod enhances more than 1500+ physical lights. All these physical lights now have shadow cast lights for them in place of the non-shadow cast ones. Moreover, almost all the new shadow casts lights use a trigger box that swaps them to their non-shadow cast version at X distance from player depending on the location and other factors.
Its latest version removes the flicker effect from the cage bulb light at the Robotics Disposal Ground and softens the shadowing. It also adds 2 more dynamic lights at the National Guard Training Area. Furthermore, West Everett Estates now has 11 new dynamic lights. Not only that, but all 13 Residential Street Lamps in Diamond City now have dynamic lights.
>> If you want it, go to Nexus Mods.

Modders have created a Harry Potter RPG game in Minecraft that you can download later this month
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/modders-have-created-a-harry-potter-rpg-game-in-minecraft-that-you-can-download-later-this-month/
Now here is something really cool. Floo Network has shared a video, showing a Harry Potter RPG in Minecraft. This mod will come out, hopefully, by the end of January 2020 and has the player attend Hogwarts.
What’s really amazing here is that this map/mod features custom quests and puzzles that players can complete. Naturally, and since this is a Minecraft mod, you can either play solo or with your friends.

This Skyrim mod mimics Sekiro's brilliant combat
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-skyrim-mod-mimics-sekiros-brilliant-combat/
The latest attempt to try and mod some engaging combat into Skyrim draws inspiration from arguably the best duelling game around: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Lucky Skyrim. Check out modder Lert Krush's Skyrim Die Twice test video above.
Creaky animations aside, it looks like a pretty faithful adaptation of Sekiro's incredibly tense sword fights. In Skyrim, unmodded melee amounts to just hitting stuff and occasionally blocking. It's not great, but it is very accessible. With this Sekiro mod, however, you need to wear your opponent down by deflecting their attacks, which drains their stamina and eventually staggers them, giving you an opening.
Enemies can do the same to you, but thankfully the mod also gives you ninja-like agility, letting you roll out of the way and, if your enemy is a cowardly archer, deflect their arrows. The mod also borrows some of the visual cues Sekiro uses, helping you to nail the timing.
While the mod is finished, you can't rush off to somewhere like Nexus Mods to download it just yet. Lert Krush originally created it just for themselves, but the reception to their videos has been positive enough to make them want to release it so we can all give it a try, but there's one speed bump. It's a modification of Ultimate Combat SE, so they'll need to get permission from its creator before the mod can be published.

Monster Hunter World’s PC performance issues may be caused by its anti-cheat, workaround discovered
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/monster-hunter-worlds-pc-performance-issues-may-be-caused-by-its-anti-cheat-workaround-discovered/
The latest big expansion for Monster Hunter World, Iceborne, is finally available on the PC. However, the game’s latest update brought major performance issues to both the main game and its expansion. And from the looks of it, these PC performance issues are mainly due to the new anti-cheat DRM that Capcom has implemented.
