Ubi wants to give an option to turn off level scaling. Because level scaling is stupid and whoever uses that is stupid and lazy.

Sadly, it's not an official solution.

Fortnite now has more than 200 million registered users
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-now-has-more-than-200-million-registered-users/
Back in June, Epic boasted that Fortnite had 125 million users after only a year. That’s quite a lot of people. Now it’s 200 million. That’s a 60 percent increase in less than half a year.
That’s obviously not 200 million people all playing Fortnite, though certainly a lot of them are. Earlier in the month, Epic Games Korea CEO Sun Chul Park revealed that Fortnite had exceeded 8.3 million concurrent players. That’s like every single person in Switzerland playing at the same time. Maybe that’s exactly what’s happening. The Swiss are just playing too much Fortnite.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey mod removes horse speed limit, allows custom XP boosters and more
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/assassins-creed-odyssey-mod-removes-horse-speed-limit-allows-custom-xp-boosters-and-more/
Modder ‘vahndaar’ has released a pretty useful mod/tool for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. According to the modder, the AC Odyssey Tweak Pack mod allows the configuration of a few handy tweaks including removing the horse speed restriction, setting a custom XP multiplier, setting custom enemy health and damage multipliers and the ability to remove or set the maximum enemy level delta.
This tool is compatible with version 1.0.7 and when you launch it it will attempt to find your ACOdyssey.exe file. If it doesn’t you’ll have to use the full path which by default is “E:GamesUbisoft Game LaunchergamesAssassin’s Creed OdysseyACOdyssey.exe”.
According to the tool’s description, the “Disable Horse Speed Restriction” option removes the forced horse speed cap when approaching towns and cities, and the “Custom XP Multiplier” option sets the master XP multiplier (you can check this is active as there should be a little yellow circle next to the XP bar when in the menu in the game). On the other hand, “Custom Max Enemy Level Delta” basically configures the whole scaling mechanism so setting it to 100 for example effectively disables auto scaling altogether.
I’m pretty sure that some players will find this mod useful as it minimizes grinding, disables the horse speed that Ubisoft has not addressed (despite a lot of complaints) and can let you enjoy the game without doing the vast majority of side-missions.
You can download the AC Odyssey Tweak Pack mod from here!
>> I hope this will help you finish the game, HoloDust.

YouTube’s ‘Play4Games’ has shared a new video, showing 18 minutes of new gameplay footage from Saber’s upcoming World War Z game. This video will give you an idea of what you can expect from it and after the underwhelming release of Overkill’s The Walking Dead game, I strongly suggest watching it.

Low sales revenue from Overkill's The Walking Dead means Starbreeze is cutting costs
https://www.pcgamer.com/low-sales-revenue-from-overkills-the-walking-dead-means-starbreeze-is-cutting-costs/
Starbreeze might be tightening its belt in light of lower than expected revenue from Overkill’s The Walking Dead. The Payday developer’s co-op zombie FPS launched a few weeks ago after a long wait, but it's not doing as well as the publisher had hoped.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2's massive space battles look amazing
https://www.pcgamer.com/battlefleet-gothic-armada-2s-massive-space-battles-look-amazing/
Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2’s space battles look absolutely ridiculous. This time, it’s living up to the name, letting you field a proper armada of cosmic cathedrals and grotesque alien hives, not just a few ships. The fights shown off in the latest video, then, are big, messy and teeming with ships. And explosions by the boatload.

Everything changed between Return of the Obra Dinn's demo and launch
https://www.pcgamer.com/everything-changed-between-return-of-the-obra-dinns-demo-and-launch/
Return of the Obra Dinn, Lucas Pope’s nautical mystery, began as a series of design puzzles. Pope recently discussed the most memorable conundrums that he had to solve on the road to release on the GDC Twitch Channel and Gamasutra, one of the biggest of which was the challenge of scaling up from the 2014 demo. It predated Obra Dinn’s story and only featured four characters whose murders players had to solve. The finished game has 60.

Shirley Curry told us a couple of years ago what it was like to become a YouTube celebrity at 80 years of age, a feat she accomplished when her love of Skyrim, and her gameplay videos, came to the attention of Reddit. "Grandma Shirley" now has more than 412,000 followers on YouTube, where she posts videos on various topics and games—she recently seems to have gotten into Call of Cthulhu—but Skyrim still dominates her playlist.

Fortnite's most frustrating shotgun is about to become badass again

Epic has announced that epic and legendary variants of Fortnite's notorious pump shotgun are on the way, likely with this week's update arriving sometime between Tuesday and Thursday. The update follows the contentious removal of the glider redeploy system in the lead up to Fortnite Season 7.

Fallout 76 glitch spawns a gazillion robot butlers and gardeners
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-glitch-spawns-a-gazillion-robot-butlers-and-gardeners/
I just popped into the Whitesprings Resort in Fallout 76 to grab a screenshot of something, but wound up spending a lot more time there than I planned. As you'll see in the pictures and video below, a glitch spawned a gazillion robot butlers and gardeners both inside and out. I know it's Cyber Monday, but this is ridiculous.

Dreamlike platformer Incredible Mandy comes to Steam with a free demo
https://www.pcgamer.com/dreamlike-platformer-incredible-mandy-comes-to-steam-with-a-free-demo/
Incredible Mandy is a lovely looking platformer-adventure about the dreams of a brother and sister, who must unlock the memories they hide following a tragic accident. Left without his hand as a result of the trauma, Mandy's brother can manifest the Excalibur of Light in its place, a "symbol of positive power" he wields as he journeys through strange, beautiful dream worlds under the guidance of his sister.

Yakuza Kiwami's PC launch is likely imminent
https://www.pcgamer.com/yakuza-kiwamis-pc-launch-is-likely-imminent/
I read some comments the other day that suggested PC was treated like a second-tier platform because Red Redemption 2 still hadn’t been confirmed. If only they’d known that we were about to get another Yakuza game, which are just as good as Rockstar’s horse dating sim. Yakuza Kiwami, which we already knew was coming, might be launching on Steam very soon.

Fractured Space developer Edge Case Games joins Wargaming's new MMO team
https://www.pcgamer.com/fractured-space-developer-edge-case-games-joins-wargamings-new-mmo-team/
Wargaming has announced the acquisition of Fractured Space developer Edge Case Games. The team will be joining Wargaming UK to work on the studio’s unannounced MMO project. They bring with them plenty of online and free-to-play experience from developing and maintaining their novel spaceship MOBA, and it’s experience that Wargaming is keen to have.

Official or nonofficial, it is solution...I might actually get back to it if I can only play main quest and ignore the rest (this is very odd coming from me, but I find most of the game to be just terrible filler).

Glad to hear you're better.

I thought for the sake of nostalgia, that I'd go back and replay Assassins Creed II, but oh me, oh my did I ever find out how irksome it was to get it to play nice with any gamepad. It won't recognize my wired PC 360 pad, nor my wired USB X1 gamepad. The menu clearly has "Xbox 360 gamepad" control remap options within the controls menu, and it even has gamepad button prompts throughout the entire game, yet the gamepads won't work for either...

This is why I'll always hate on Ubisoft tbh. Always trashy PC ports, especially their latest ones that play console parity, where they demand more power from your machine, yet output little quality to make up for such a high demand. It was confirmed that Origins shared parity with the consoles in terms of textures, so that doesn't surprise me at all. I loved how they said around a year ago about how they "love PC gaming" yet they pull this trash each time. They don't even go back to sort out their games.

I haven't bought a Ubisoft game in years for some of the reasons you described above.
Honestly don't think the company is worth my coin.

Was hoping Vivendi might give them a purchase and change things up.. But alas. Never really happened.

I've played every Assassin's Creed game on PC with Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers without any problems.

In AC II gamepad support has to be activated first in the options, otherwise it only uses keyboard & mouse:

Perhaps you forgot that?

Only AC game I played on PC was 3, and I had issues getting my gamepad working too. Think I had to tick run the game in administrator mode, possibly steam as well. Even then a few times I'd boot the game and gamepad wouldn't work until I quit and launched it again.

That's actually the first thing I did and it had only half the buttons working. Tried remapping some but not all worked in the end.

Also the wiki says it has 60fps+ possibility, but it's not clear as to how to get it past 60.
