Its actually only dual core, but intel cores rape AMD cores clock for clock and this cpu os clocked more than double.

Would these specs match what they do without optimization? I don't think so though I'm no expert by any means.

No it isnt. That cpu performs as good in gaming in terms of frame rates as non overclocked FX8350 which destroys what PS4 and X1 have
Just wait the games and you will see a $650 PC can't give you the same graphic/performance than next-gen consoles.
Key points...
+ The CPU is fine but you will have some bottlenecks in some heavly multi-threaded games
+ Needs more GPU power to match PS4 (for Xbone is fine)
+ Needs more VRAM (2GB)
+ Needs more SystemRAM to match PS4 (for Xbone is fine)
+ Needs a controller (or keyborad/mouse)
+ Needs a BD-ROM
It will be funny soon when the multiplat games to run at 1080p@60fps require at least a $900-1000 PC.
I wish it was that simple. I could just get the new mid range card like 7870 or Nvidia 760 and call it a day on next gen. Those cards would easily take one more than half way through upcoming gen. I think.

Or maybe not. The new GTX760 is $249 and is almost at the tier of last years GTX670 which was $399. CPU bottlenecks should be less frequent with each year.
e=mc^2
Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
Hmm I think you'd need to spend a bit more than that to ensure your PC will handle next gen games in the next few years. 4GB of system RAM is not really ideal and although the GPU would be fine for next year or so.. once games start to use more VRAM, it might become a limiting factor. I'd opt for something more substantial in GPU power like an GTX760 or HD7950.
Also can't forget other stuff like; OS, keyboard, mouse, controller and optical drive. :)

You hole consoles, especially PS4 in too high regard.
7870xt is more powerful than 7950...look up benchmarks. Its not the 7870 AMD first introduced.
This VRAM obsession is also false. You can run todays PC games at 5760x1080 with 2gb of ram. Apparently these consoles will change graphics so much (with weaker hardware) that 2gb wont be able to handle 1080p in a few years. I dont think so...
It does need more sys ram down the road as well as controller, keyboard etc, ill give you that...

7870xt beats the 7950. Look it up...
