Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo defends rapid release of new Mario games

It's tantamount to a drowning person flailing about trying to stay afloat.

Around the Network

Nintendo fans: "So what, it makes money."

Nintendo fans: "I'm so sick of seeing a new Call of Duty every year."

My problem is this, I didn't give one shit about all the crappy spin offs. 2D mario sucked? Fine. Mario Kart is the same game for the past 20 years? I don't mind. All these crappy mario sports and party games? No problem. The reason I didn't care was because 3D mario has been consistently amazing until 3D land. But hey, it was on a handheld, so I didn't mind. Now they release a level pack for that game on the Wii U as their fucking 3D mario game. It really pisses me off that there are really no longer any quality Mario games. The galaxy games will be the definitive 3D mario games I suppose.

These are not usually the same people. Overgeneralising gets Jonny into trouble.

Yes.

www.spacemag.org - contribute your stuff... satire, comics, ideas, debate, stupidy stupid etc.

Looking at the major franchises this generation and I came up with.
5 Halos (Although Wars is a different genre)
3 Uncharted
4 Gears of War
7 Call of duty
2 God of war

And thats not counting Handhelds and mobile games. Mario isnt that bad, its just been around longer.

I can guarantee that games that had "Mario" in them are way more, they are different games though not sequels.

Granted, but be fair, Mario Kart, Tennis, Smash bros, Paper Mario are different genres,.

If the people who criticize Nintendo can't count to seven, then they should just shut up.

Not to mention mixing genres, skipping games and handheld games being relevant only when it interests them.

That big gap surrounding 64 and Sunshine just happened to coincide with Nintendo's dwindling hardware sales after the NES/SNES era.

But thinking is hard.

You left off the Assassins Creed games, and you didn't count the handheld versions of some of the above franchises (Uncharted and Call of Duty had a Vita game).

In fairness, I'd also leave off Halo Wars. It's like saying Mario Kart counts as a Mario platformer.
