Forums - General Discussion - Why do Sony Bros dominate the internet?

It's simple, PS3 = Online free = Poor people that stay home all day with nothing to do except play video games online and browse the internet.

Wii = Mostly younger players that don't spend a lot of time on the internet.

Xbox 360 = Educated, well employeed (Pay for Xbox Live) = people with no time to chat on the internet because they are too busy working.

:)  ROFL ...

I think it's mostly because Xbox gamer hands are deformed. Usually their left thumb is longer than the other, and their hands are huge. Making typing on a keyboard mostly impossible.

Nintendo fans hate the internet, they only wan't to bash the other console while seated on the same couch with each other.

I don't think those are the right reasons...

I had a longer write up, but in essence, it's about age. How old is the average person posting on message boards/forums? Lets say, 16-25. That's a nice meaty range.

Lets say you started playing games when you were 5. If you're 16 when did you start playing games? In about 2002 right? So what did you start playing on? a PS2. If you started playing when you were 5 and you're 18 now, then you started playing around 2000 most likely on a PS1 or two. If you're 18-23 you probably started gaming on a PS1. Any older than that, and maybe you started on a Super Nintendo.

When you start something at such a young age, you develop a fondness for it. It's not just a game machine, it was part of your childhood. Many of your most precious memories are tied up with that device. It helps develop fandom that is a bit more extreme than typical.

Microsoft has only been in the gaming industry for 13 years or so, but only as a relevant entity for about 8. So, fewer gamers have really grown up on the 360. Nintendo has been around for longer, but from the mid 90s to the DS/Wii era, they were getting trounced by Sony.

There are other factors but that, in a nutshell, is why I think there are more Sony fans on the internet. It's a matter of timing mostly. It will be interesting what happens when the Wii/DS kids grow up.

Personal Note:  Though the Atari 2600 was my first console and the NES was beloved by me, the Sega Genesis (along with their incredible arcade games back then) made me a huge Sega fan.  HUGE.  But Sega was seriously wounded by Nintendo and later categorically ruined by Sony F.U.D.

Thus I was a gamer that was bitter toward the only two remaining players.  Enter Microsoft.

For the record, I did own and thoroughly enjoyed a Gamecube and a PS2.  Even bitterness didn't make me a fanboy hater.  We DO have control of such things ...

We been on top for so long we really don't know how to lose. Many of us are in denial and think we won this generation. It was so hard to be a Sony fanboy during this generation many went into hiding.. Now its a new generation and we have forward momentum, so all the Sony fans are coming out of hiding.

We have always been here, just lurking from the shadows until we could be number one again.

I'd say more Sony fans came out during the hard times to defend Sony, at least in my online experiences.

The Playstation is most people's favourite console and these numbers translate themselves accordingly into fans on the internet.

This is the most logical answer.
