It's just a normal controller with a big screen on the middle. As DS already proved, this kind of controller setup is awesome.

I love the gamepad. The second screen is a long overdue convenience, that helps make game play that much more immersive. Aside from HUD & maps, the old traditional way of pressing a button, and seeing the feedback on the tv was in desperate need of evolution. Now it feels more like we have a high tech gadget in hand, which serves as the bridge between player & action on big screen.

I enjoy it. Wouldn't be able to use it as much as I do without the Gamepad. Being able to turn off the TV and go outside or any other room and play has kinda spoiled me. My Game Pad goes with me everywhere I go in the house. Even as I type this at my PC I have the Game Pad sitting beside me. Not every game has to use it in some unique way to justify it. I am very happy with just using it for off TV play. wish more games had the option.
Someone brought up PS4/Vita? Who wants to pay close to a grand for both and online? Wii U is expensive for what it does but you're happy to pay 600,00 more for the same thing from a competitor?

I like it well enough, but they certainly aren't using it in amazing ways just yet. If it allows quick versions of iOS games and other casual titles to come about with neat features, it may be worth it. I do really like it for navigating menus, surfing the net and so on. Personally, I probably would have gone with something more like a more complicated and versatile Wii Remote setup (more buttons, second analogue, etc) or possibly a cheaper gamepad with a smaller screen that could be the one and only controller for all players. But I don't think the gamepad is terrible.

I hope X will do something really cool with this. Imagine controlling the machine with the GamePad.

I think it would work much better if the tablet controller was it's own separate system. The PS4 + Vita combination will do the same thing and blow it out of the water.

Only if they manage to do so lag-free.

And anyone voting for anything other than 'Yes' either hasn't played Arkham City, ZombiU, Trine 2 and Lego City Undercover or has done and has a screw loose lol

The Wii Mote did a better job at immersing you in the world than the gamepad does. I will be getting the Wii Mote with the Wii U and i will probably use it the most since its superior to the Gamepad

I enjoy it for menu options, off screen play, slit screen multiplier and just navigating through the interface.

love it love it love it

I don't know, It's really comfortable for one thing. Which is a huge plus. And I LOVE a second screen on my 3DS. It simplifies things so much, and really is very very useful IMO. As far as "revolutionary gameplay" I don't think it really does anything that exciting, but it removes clutter from the screen, and really makes things convenient.

My biggest worry is this: When I am playing on my 3DS, the bottom screen is right there. I can ever so slightly move my eye, and all the info I need is right there. On Wii U, you have to move your head to look from screen to screen. So I don't think the same convenience that the 3DS second screen provides is relevant in this case. I could be wrong, not many games have used the bottom screen and top screen in conjunction.
