To many gamers, Sony’s PlayStation 4 won E3 2013 decisively, with a competitive price, no used games restrictions, no online connection requirement, and a slew of games. And it’s apparently showing in the strong pre-order numbers for the console.

In a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, such a response was seemingly unexpected, and as such, Sony has increased its sales forecast as a result.

“Sony Corp is raising internal sales projections for the forthcoming PlayStation 4 videogame console amid positive signs about demand for the device,” according to the WSJ.

Unfortunately for those that didn’t pre-order early, however, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House admitted that “demand may well outstrip supply.” GameStop echoed this “sentiment” to the Wall Street Journal.

Better get your pre orders in quick, I have to wait a 2 more weeks til i can get mine pre ordered.

I have never pre orderd a console before, I usually wait after the hype is over and people had the chance to use it, but it might be next to impossible to get one later this year. I guess 2014 for me.

I have never preordered a console because they have always been to pricey for me, I brought the ps2 & ps3 when they dropped to the same price as what the ps4 is launching at so for the first time ever I can pre order one :D

Yeah... I don't think even Sony knew what position they were in going into e3... The price, the DRM, the confusion and the meltdown for MS really pushed them over the top. I wonder if they even were planing to announce paid multiplayer or they just saw the MS presentation and just decided to make some money lol.

Does anyone know if you preorder it at lets say Gamestop, if you have to pay the full price right away or is it more like preordering a game where you can pay just part of the price?

Hmm... those console makers really like to post optimistic sales figures. They not only have to fight against the One but also against the still extremely strong current gen. Also theres still Nintendo with the strong 3DS and a maturing WiiU. I know I will not get a PS4 at launch... not with my backlog and the announced games. An exclusive FF XV at launch could have sold me...

oh boy, don't get cocky now. there is a lot of time for things to change.
