Forums - Gaming - Psychology survey : You who supports DRM/Xbox One/EA, who are you?

I plan on buying/support the Xbox One mainly because

I'm rich, I don't care 59 33.52%

I don't bother being always on/watched 28 15.91%

I think used games are bad for X reasons 8 4.55%

I think DRM are good for X reasons 12 6.82%

I'm a publisher/dev myse... 9 5.11%

I hate piracy and/or second-hand market. 25 14.20%

I'm a firm Microsoft sup... 35 19.89%

Total:176

So I didnt succeed in finding someone amongst my IRL or online friends who will buy the Xbox One.

So I want to ask here, who are those people who supports the Xbox One or DRMs, and how they think (their arguments and consumer profile/behavior).

What is you main reason ?

*Note that I ONLY address those people who are currently supporting or even planning on buying the Xbox One, to understand them.

It won't change how I have been gaming for the last 8 years. Not one bit.

"It won't change anything for me" should be an option, although two of those options I could click.

Also, "always watched" should be removed, as you aren't.

Thats the same for me.  Its not changing how ive gamed form the last gen.

Truth is that this will not effect millions and millions (200m in America) of people and how they already play games. So yes, 10's of millions and millions of people will buy it. Maybe people like the OP should respect those people for those opinions. IF you don't like it then don't buy it but stop acting like it is the end of the world and spamming your hatred for something you "apparently" dont care about.

I'm not rich, but I do fairly well. I never buy or sell used games. I generally just give them away or eventually throw them in the garbage. I know, I'm a terrible person, but wtf am I supposed to do with 15 year old cartridges that I will never touch again?

I don't lend or borrow games. All of my friends are at roughly the same point in their lives as me, so if a good games comes out we all usually buy it. No need to lend or borrow.

I have a fast and stable internet connection. If for any reason my net went out for longer than a day I'm smart enough to know how to turn my smartphone into a wifi hotspot in about 3 seconds flat.

I don't really care about "things" or property. I don't collect or save old things. I consider such things to be junk if I am no longer using them, so digital media is fine by me.

I'm a fantasy football addict, so being able to have my fantasy stats updating on the tv screen while I am watching games is actually something I am really interested in.

Obviously not everyone is like this. Many people enjoy collecting things, including physical copies of games, and many people have shitty internet, but for me personally, nothing about the Xbone is a turn off.

To clarify about the demographic that I fall into, I am 32 years old, done school, work full time, and have a family. Having said that, my thoughts on being able to lend or borrow games may change as my 2 young kids start to get old enough to play video games and want to trade games with friends.

I'm an educated gamer in a rich western country with stable and fast internet. So the one doesn't change any of my gaming habits

I don't care what your background is, how can people support this? I guess loyalty does wonders for companies and governments, no matter how wrong the cause is.

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Why would I let something that has no negative impact on the way I play games bother me? I should refrain from buying an Xbone because little Timmy in rural Kentucky doesn't have stable internet and can't figure out how to go into his phone settings and tether it to his Xbone? I should turn away from some of my favourite game franchises like Halo and Forza because of DRM? I still buy movies and music and I don't fully own those either. As long as I can play and enjoy them that's what's important to me.

If the company goes out of business (Steam, Microsoft, etc) then how will you be able to play the games?  Granted they could release a patch right before their collapse that unblocks all the DRM or whatever.  Anyways, imagine a future apocalypse where you are powering your TV, video game console through a generator and there isn't any internet.  How are you going to play those games if they are DRM to internet connection?  Granted my scenarios have a .0001% of chance of actually happening.  How about this scenario though...  Your city is struck by a huge disaster (although your house remains).  Internet services are down and you can't play video games.  Granted you probably have more things to worry about then playing a video game.  Hand helds are superior to home console systems in terms of playing after disaster!

!Me and my friends rarely lend each other games and if we can't we just wouldn't not the end of the world for a lot of us, though I hear you can lend just once per friend which is enough time to beat sad game if need be. Kinect isn't always watching and I have a very stable internet connection so not a big deal to me i honestly don't like playing my systems offline anyway I feel less connected.
It's kinda ridiculous that we are getting this many kind of threads, that horse is gone bra MY NIGGA DEAD!!!!!

I support the publishers that want a fee on the resale of their game. I know the elitist gamers think this is wrong but these are the same people that think a service provided should be free of charge, so they have zero credibility with me.

The changes being made by ms will have zero impact on how I play games and will actually improve it.
