Forums - Gaming Discussion - When will Wii, DS, PSP be discontinued?

All 3 of these systems arent selling extremely well, have successors out and are possibly eating away at said successors sales. How long until we see them cease to exist?

I think this year will see there final christmas then sometime next year, probably when this fiscal year ends, get price cuts (Wii-$99, DSi-$79, XL-$99, PSP-$99) and be discontinued around that time.

2014 for DS. 2015 for Wii and PSP I think.

I would say any time now, really. It may take a year or two before they finally have their plug pulled though.

Most likely tomorrow.

They will also all be discontinued during the same exact time, down to the very last second. Most importantly the day after they are discontinued a big triple-A title will be released for all 3 consoles/handhelds. My prediction is very much possible anything else you hear is a dirty lie!

In Nintendo's financial report in the projections portion they had the DS shipping 0 units across all SKU's. Seems to me like they are already working through the last of the systems and there won't be any more after those sell out.

As for the Wii, they are probably doing the same, but they probably have already-ordered parts to get through....hence the Wii Mini. Easy way to make the Wii U look more like an upgrade and work through spare parts for pennies.

I honestly have no clue about the PSP. Sony tends to support their products for an eternity after the next one comes out. I wouldn't be surprised if it stuck around for a couple more years at the least....or until the Vita starts to take off.

Not for 2 to 3 years i imagine. DS and PSP are probably still popular in the developing world. In some countries you can still buy PS2 brand new
