Seriously though, there are tons of people out there playing GBA Pokemon on their phone emulator.

So that's where the audience will go.

(Way too many people in fact lol)

GBA emulator is my best friend on my phone, just got done playing Metroid Fusion and Zelda Minish Cap.

Well see the thing is while the emulator itself is legal the ROM files aren't. Unless you straight up own the physical copies and rip them yourself.

But people do it because everyone does it. It's like pirating music.

Ya I know im a scoundrel for doin it lol

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Pokemon is entirely owned by Nintendo and is entirely a part of the Nintendo company.

Nintendo employs Gamefreak to develop the games, that's it. They have no ownership of Pokemon.

Just like Aielyn said, what made nintendo what they are today is his own franchises the two biggest are Mario and Pokemon, if nintendo went out of the game market that would mean that Mario and Pokemon have fallen and no longer appeal to the masses so most likely, just like their other franchises it would die with them.

I could see the Pokemon games doing rather well on tablets and mobiles. Sony handhelds are another option although they don't sell all that well. I don't think having Pokemon would change that.

Thanks for the comedy relief on this dull sunday morning.

Most likely Sony, since they're a Japanese company.

Lol, what? As others have said it will be a bidding war. Google, Apple and Microsoft would surely be the front runners.

Can't find any articles about this on google at the moment, but I've remembered I read some articles where Miyamotto and Iwata said NIntendo will quit the gaming business if their home and handheld console fails. This means, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and many other Nintendo IPs will leave gaming. However, Pokemon isn't directly part of the Nintendo company. The games are actually run by GameFreak which is owned by the Pokemon Company. GameFreak also has a history of producing software outside of Nintendo consoles, including two games for the Sega Megadrive, one game for the Playstation 1, and several Pokedex apps for the iPhone. So the question is, if Nintendo goes under, where will GameFreak go or will it go under as well? Or where would you want GameFreak to go?

Why do we need countless topics on this subject.  Nintendo has been far more profitable than anyone else in this biz and is sitting on a huge pile of cash.  They're not going anywhere.  Topics like this are just trolling.

Maybe Namco Bandai ?

Okay okay...Sony.

Pokémon will continue to exist as it is not operated by Nintendo. Pokémon is managed by the Pokemon Company which in turn Nintendo holds a 33% stake in. Nintendo has no say in the operations of the Pokemon Company. However you do raise a point of which dedicated platform will it go to if ever Nintendo goes out of the hardware business - I simply do not know.

Lol they would just be a third party dev. They wouldn't let themselves be bought out. If they did, it would probably be by Sony. I dont think they would allow themselves to be bought oht and owned by American companies. Their games would also be more at home on the Sony consoles anyways. A Sony+ Nintendo partnership would be the biggest and most unstoppable team possible.

Nintendo isn't going anywhere though. They are in a tough position but they can get out of it
