There is no free version for a start... thats fairly significant.  (Spotify has 25m subscribers - only 6 or 7m pay (I'm one of them) people dont like paying for music sreaming services)

For me, its a non starter as it wont work with home streaming devices such as Sonos (i have that) or some AV receivers (Onkyo etc) that work with Spotify and Napster for instance.

Thast how it is worse.

Now how is it better?

I doubt the interface is better than Spotify and it seems to have all the same features, song suggestions, radio etc.

30day trial to see if the larger content select is worth your $8 or $10 a month.

Android already connects and streams to just about any device you want via a multitude of devices plus all you really need is to connect to Google Music from any browser based item. No need for item to be specifically designed to work with GM... just have a HDMI or Mic in connnection or web access from your many smart enabled devices. 1.

Ability to sync your owned collection with this all access... combines best features of pandora and spotify and personal collections all in one. 2.

Then... I'm willing to bet content selection, sound quality, and UI will be a bigger difference. But that will have to wait for on-hand comparisons that are sure to come. 3.

thats nonsense

1. You dont understand home network music streaming devices like Sonos.    Its a home network.  I dont want to plug a device into the back of each player. that defeats the point.

2. Spotify does that

3. It will be 320k, just lke spotify is.

You can also buy media streaming devices like a sonos for Android... or just use your PC / Smart device already connected to your media center. That is a non-issue and parity among anything really.

Does spotify's free version give you all that stuff your saying is equivalent (not really better or worse for either it sounds like)?

I was expecting them to talk about the new version of android but nothing has seemed to materialise yet. It's a shame that's the only thing i was looking forward too

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

btw spotify premium has also a 30 days trial fro free. at least in germany.

1.  but it isnt Sonos... Sonos is the best.

2.  of course not... its free. lol.

1. umm k lol

2. well then Google will need to show people why to go with paid versions. Personally, I think anyone who likes music alot would greatly benefit from this. Instant access from any web-enabled device (especially android with app) to quite possibly every album/song ever released. You can make the flat-out most amazing play lists ever.

What I want to know now is if its shareable. Currently with Google Music in Android you can have it sync to more than one Google users music library. i.e. me and my wife share all our stuff. Since this all access simply ties to your GM and you can create playlists / add albums at will.. I wonder if she can sign up for service and I can create my playslist in her GM. :)

like spotify....

I've already said the paid versions are very much equal. Just wonder what the content is.. i.e. if one has more than other.

yes it does.  30 day full trail free but also, crucially, a lifetime ad supported free lite-version.

i know i know, i use it a lot. was just saying because superchunk meant the new google service will have a 30 days trial when you asked why it's better as spotify.

I think many can agree on particular user's attitudes when they enter a thread regarding a competitor to their adoring corporation. Very humorous.

It's a Google I/O for developers. It was not intended for consumer products for those crying nothing major was shown.

Now my two cents, it was a good conference with nice features and improvements shown. The S4 is now quality with vanilla Android so you can't go wrong there. Google Play gaming is great as it shows its evolving into something bigger. Yeah, too much of this stuff /s

i see.

I think we have gome from the OP - "it blows spotify away", to "Seems similar to features found in paid variants of pandora & spotify." lol

Yep. Went from uber hype to looking into it (as I said I would) to realize they are seemingly the same in paid variants.

edit: I also fixed your quotes of my OP.

still good, competiton only mean they won't stop to work hard to make the service as good as possible. so yeah, it's also good for spotify users like me
