As always - PS fans know nothing about economy and real life :p

This is how ALL this kinds of deals work - you pay less upfront & more in the long run.

Even 10$ was too much. that's 240$ plus the 300$ console...540$? Lol no thanks, anyone with grade one level math will recognize that is a rip off.

Could be a great way for MS to sell consoles. "Sorry we are out of the $499 stand alone version, but we have this version at x amount more". Depends on how much supply at launch.

Hopefully Amazon/GS puts their pre-orders up for both systems shortly after E3. I don't want to miss out and have to pay more in the long run.

It's just that simple.

Seems like a good deal to me!

499 for the standalone version? That's 100 more than what i was expecting of anything "next gen".

My guess is that kinect 2.0 is bundled. But then 299 for the subscription model is also 100 more than what i think it should be. The reason you go with a subscription model is to decrease the initial investment. 299 is a bit too much.

If this is true i think Sony will have the price advantage with PS4. Theres really nothing overly expensive about the PS4 from the stuff that we know. I think we looking at 399 for standalone model and 199 for subscription model for PS4.

Sony really needs to go for the price advantage here considering they dont have a kinect equivalent.

$659 for a console?
Wow.

it's not like your going to be paying that much on the first day besides it's the same thing as paying for live

By the way, I did screw up one thing: The $299 version of Xbox v.Next will come with a $15/mo XBLG subscription, not $10. Sorry about that.

Price. Microsoft will initially offer two pricing models for the console, offering a standalone version for $499 and then a $299 version that requires a two-year Xbox LIVE Gold commitment at an expected price of $10 per month.

Family is gone.  Xbox LIVE Gold will be per console, rather than per user.   More expensive if you have multiple consoles, but significantly cheaper if you have one console with multiple family members.

I don't pay Sony/MS/Nintendo to use p2p or Dev Servers, that would be very disagreeable to me.

Some people are happy to simply hand over their money for a shiny new thing regardless of whether or not the company uses questionable pricing tactics and I can only pity them.

i will repeat my always connected theory once again.  has any considered that for those with a subscription if its not connected it wont work but after its paid for they can remove that restriction?  they should have an early pay option with that tbh
