Skyward Sword is simply a downswing game, but there will also be future upswing games

Major Zelda realese in 5 years. If you dont buy it - no Zelda in 10 years. How you can be a fan after that?

 whereas Fable is pretty clearly going in one direction.

More sales?

It's developer has lost its lead figure and many were disappointed in Fable 3, as i recall. Compare that to the hype that the mere tech demo for Zelda on Wii U generated.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Look at Wii Metroid (3 and other M) sales - 1.5m
Yeap, it is not very popular.

Lots of people missing the fact that SS required Wii Motion+ and Fable 3 was bundled.

Need to buy Motion Plus (sells with Zelda game btw), nah, better wait another 5 years.

Zelda was never a huge seller franchise BTW... it was a niche game like Metroid.

Niche game? A game not for everyone... Mario is for everyone... Metroid and Zelda is for fans... it is like StarFox, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Forza and others 2-4M franchises.

Zelda has always, always, been a tier higher than Metroid. Metroid taps out at 3 million, which is generally around where Zelda bottoms.

Fable 2 & 3 sold that well due to mass bundling. I remember Fable 3 adding around 1.5 million during its xmas holidays bundle with Halo: Reach (digital). The main Fable trilogy would average around 2.5-3.5m per game without bundling, which is great. Zelda is a bigger series though, that said it seems to be losing popularity since 2006 with every game selling less and less (yes, I'm including handheld).

Well when, why only 3.5m Z:OoT (3DS)?

Probably the best selling remake that i have seen actually.  Also Console Zelda is more popular than Handheld zelda.

My point is that Zelda is not a game for everyone... it is a niche game for fans... that coming from a guy that thinks the OoT one of the best games ever created.

Hype != sales.
But yeah, departure of Peter very troublesome for Fable franchise, but lets see trailer for Fable 4 before assuming something.
