Forums - General Discussion - The Official Vampire Diaries Thread

So I decided to make a thread about the vampire diaries. So lets discuss!

Vampire Diaries

Description:the series follows the life of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), a 17-year-old girl, who falls deeply in love with a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated as Stefan's vicious, and malevolent older brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) returns with a plan to wreak havoc on the town, seeking revenge against his younger brother for turning him into a vampire against his will. Both brothers begin to show affection towards Elena, mainly because of her resemblance to their past love Katherine Pierce. It is revealed that Elena is a descendant of Katherine, who eventually returns with plans against the trio.

The series is set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, a town charged with supernatural history since its settlement of migrants from New England in the late 17th century. Other story lines revolve around the other inhabitants of the town, most notably Elena's younger brother Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen), her best friends Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham) and Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola), and their mutual friends Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) and Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig). The town's politics are orchestrated by descendants of the original founding families, all comprising a "Founders' Council". Some of the founding families of Mystic Falls include the Salvatores, the Gilberts, the Fells, the Forbes, and the Lockwoods. They guard the town mainly from vampires, although there are other supernatural threats such as werewolves, witches, ghosts, and hybrids.

Do you include Grimm in this? I love that show, or used to, kind of fell off from watching it as of late.

Sure, I enjoyed grimm in the beggining to, but stopped for some reason. I guess it was on a hiatus and then I completely forgot about it.

Vampire Diaries have really gone downhill fast and hard... I can't stand Elena who is the "main" girl

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I'm finding the whole no emotions elena entertaining. This season has been decent and the mid season scene with jeremy and the house was very well done imo.

I like True Blood; even though the quality is inconsistent from season to season I have always found it fun. I never watched Vampire Diaries, but I have heard good things. I missed it when it started as it had a strong Twilight vibe. Being Human UK was great until the leads left, but after that I didn't feel like watching anymore. Never saw the remake.

Personally, I can't see any vampire show topping Buffy.

Ah buffy was a classic. Ya the recent season of true blood especially the ending gets me excited for the next season. Billith lol. You should give vampire diaries a try. I was in the same boat as you for awhile since it gave me that sparkly vampire vibe too, but its actually good and brutal. Agreed with being human uk and the us version is pretty good to, but really doesn't follow the plot of the uk version after awhile.

Yeah, I like the cliffhangers in True Blood. It stops them having to wind down at the end of a season. As for Vampire Diaries I will probably watch it over the summer, as a lot of shows generally stop then. I generally try and catch all the good horror related shows, they seem to be making a comback recently.

Well I trust EW magazine, and they have it as one of their top shows. Most have gotten really good since last season.

The second season is much better, IMO.  Especially the last half of it so far.

I like True Blood.
