It looks like 90% of every anime character I have ever seen before

That doesn't typically stop people from buying a good game, fortunately.

I'd beg to differ.  Outside of Japan these games sell next to nothing for the most part disregarding a few games like Final Fantasy.  They are generic and most people can't tell the difference.  This stuff is popular in Japan but once again the market is flooded with these generec characters and I'd even argue that many anime games like this fails in Japan as well and can not reach mainstream.  If you can't differintiate yourself then most likely you will see little to no success.  The only reason this stuff is able to get away with it is most likely many games like this does not have a high budget so they really don't need to sell extremely well.

The Japanese notice a difference because it's something they're into...pretty much how Japan looks at western games and thinks they're all the same as well. The reason you're looking at sales of 200-300k for these games is because the gameplay is extremely niche. It has nothing to do with the characters.

I'd say it has a little to do with both but I can't prove that so I will not argue it.

Anyways if you guys are excited then I hope the game is fun.  I wasn't intending on getting into any kind of argument and I wasnt intending on having a bunch of people reply to me.

Good, you're learning. Now all you have to do is think before you say things you can't prove and we'll be getting somewhere.

That said, what are some non-generic Japanese designs in your opinion?

Pretty much what I just said. i underlined and bolded both me and your statements.

Pretty much all of this.  Just have to type anime in image to find how generic anime has become.  There are ones that stand out but for the most part a lot of them are generic.  NOt saying all of them, I'm saying a lot.

EDIT: oops forgot the link haha

I was asking for non-generic designs that you like.

Ohhhh I see.  The first one that comes to mind is dragonball if that counts. Although a few others like Chrono Trigger and Dragonquest has a similar artsyle I can still tell all the characters a part.  I always thought a few final fantasy characters like Cloud and Sephiroth was pretty well designed.  Even FFXIII I thought did a pretty decent job with a few characters.  The picture in your avatar as well.  Although i dont know who he is he still stands out to me.    This is typically speaking from someone who knows very little about anime so Im sure there is tons of others that are unique and that stands out.

I'd appreciate if you'd stop offending other people's tastes, this series has a respectable amount of fans in these forums and its a long enough time running series that keeps improving over time in terms of quality. If you despise these kinds of games maybe you should just leave the thread.

Not sure how I'm offending other peoples tastes.  He said AMAZING.  I say it looks no different.  Did i say it was bad?  No i did not.  Can you tell me what I said has been wrong?  Not like Im coming in here trolling.

It clearly looks graphically improved over the past titles but keeping the same art style. If you think anime is generic and don't enjoy the look is one thing, but why would someone with no interest in the series whatsoever even post in a thread about it is weird. It just seems like someone went from creating tons of threads per day to posting randomly.

Your opinion is not gold unlike you seem to think.

this is ps3 exclusive isn't it?

Those character models look better than the Tales games. Makes you wonder.

EDIT: My computer is not allowing me to quote for some reason.

@Rutea

For some reason I think you think that I'm saying it is a bad game when I'm not. THe title said that it was amazing anime graphics so I came in here expecting that. I came in and it wasn't. It looks like most anime that I have seen.

Yes it looks better than the previous game. Speaking of not standing out, I don't think Persona 4 stands out design wise beyond Teddy but I also think it is one of the best games I've ever played. I hope this game is good as well.

You can criticize me and that is fine and I also don't think my opinions are golden. I may seem arrogant time from time but if I'm wrong I'll admit that I'm wrong. In this case I just presented an opinion. Right or wrong that is all it is. Just like you voiced your opinion on me.

@Soriku I can't view the picture at the moment :/ I will when I get home. And yeah I'm sure there is a lot of greatly designed anime :) I play a few JRPG's every once and a while but I can't say that I know a lot about it either. I think you are the one that was telling me about The Persona's main series? I forget the name of it but I've been pretty excited for it to come to the 3DS :)

Now you sound like someone who can't accept that people have different tastes. I love anime styled games but I can say this doesn't look much different either  in terms of the stye though you can see a graphical improvement I hope its good.
