Forums - Sony Discussion - God of War plot hole? (spoilers)

Tagged games:

Last night, I was playing the God of War: Ascension demo (which is AMAZING, you must all go try it out) and a question came up between some of my buddies.

SPOILERS AHEAD.

Anyways, so during God of War 2, after Kratos defeated the Sisters of Fate and sealed them away, he basically gained control of time itself. There was also that third fat one covered in boobs, which Kratos gracefully put an end to. He then uses this power to stop Zeus from killing him and taking his powers away. He also uses his power to control time by going way back to the war between the Titans and the Gods and recruits the Titans to help fight against Olympus in his present time.

So my question is why didn't Kratos use the power of the Fates to stop himself from killing his wife and daughter? I mean, that's the whole reason Kratos lived in turmoil everyday, isn't it? It's also the reason he cursed the gods for basically enslaving him as their puppet and refusing to remove his nightmares away. He even ended up almost killing himself for it back in God of War 1. Am I missing something here...? I find it surprising that I only thought of this now.

Thoughts?

Looking at Kratos as a character, I'd say his vengeance and hatred are stronger motivational factors than the love for his family. That doesn't suggest his love for them is weak. On the contrary, it is strong I think, but that's just goes to show how much hatred the guy has.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

That is very interesting.....there must be a reason as to why he hasn't done that.....maybe hes just to ashamed that he killed his family in the first place lol

i only played the console games, does this include spoilers from the PSP games?

There's another thing I don't understand. He went back to when he was killed in God of War 2... and when he was killed he was "revived" by the "dead" titans... but if he went back in time to save the titans before they died in the great war... then who the hell revived him when he died?

It's like the titans were never killed and instead taken to the future but then that means there was no one to revive him after he was killed by Zeus... which means he could've never gone into his quest to find the sisters of fate... and he was never able to travel through time...

I don't know, it's hard to understand O_o

Nope, I haven't played the PSP games yet, either. :P

Play Ghost of SParta and CHains of Olympus (PSP both) and you will see why.

Kratos accepts that his fate is not with his daughter in Chains of Olympus.

And he refuses to have his memory wiped off of what the Gods did to him with his family (includes his brother too).

His fate isn't with them, and he is destined for something else.

If you really need to know more, believe me: Play the PSP games, they answer this.

Yeah time travel isn't possible therefore loopholes can't exist.

That is a classic time travel paradox.   These things blow my mind everytime I see one.  I guess it's best to just let it slide. lol

Time travel is a hell of a drug. Seriously though maybe he just doesn't want to? Or maybe he lost the power to do so like in every game where he gets different weapons and powers instead of the same ones from the old games lol. Either way he is Kratos and a complete bad ass in an amazing game series. If you can't tell i'm really excited for ascension ^^
