Hello and good day/afternoon/evening,
I'm here to make you aware of the ever growing problem that VG Chartz is currently facing: abundant useless sticky creation. You've all seen it, but here are the numbers. Be warned they maybe shocking so those with heart conditions or that are short of breath or are just really dumb should leave the thread.
Sales forum: 3 stickies.
Gaming forum: 2 stickies.
Nintendo forum: 4 stickies.
Sony forum: 2 stickies.
Microsoft forum: 3 stickies.
PC forum: 4 stickies.
Off-Topic forum: 2 stickies.
Website forum: 9 stickies.
That's a whopping...
27 stickies
Day by day, hour by hour, the number of stickies slowly increases. Sure the Nintendo forum only had 1 sticky once upon a time, but soon it one sticky was not enough. It became two. And now two has become four. The Website forum is even worse. It doesn't follow proper math! 2 times 4 is most definitely not 9! It's pure madness! It's only a matter of time until all of these useless stickies overflow the forums destroy all hope for a healthy community. Today we can see our thread at the top of the forum but tomorrow all forums will be like the website forum. Soon you'll have to scroll down to see threads. It'll only get worse though, soon we'll be forced to move to page 2... and then 3. We will get shoved into the archives as more and more useless stickies about streaming videos, pointless organizations, and nearly empty threads no one cares about are made.
For the last couple of months, Moderator ssj12 has quietly decided that being a moderator of this forum was, to a certain extent, about sticky management, and although I have not been willing to engage in comments regarding his rampant creation of stickies, I've been here all this time and longer, and I can tell you without hesitation: Being a moderator of this forum is entirely about sticky management. For the record: yes, I am a member of GAMERS. But the more important question is why aren't you, ssj12? Now, this is an organization whose sole purpose is to defend the ideals of our forum community, so it naturally begs the question: Why would a moderator, his community's most powerful spokesman and a candidate for the most sticky creation ever, choose to reject upholding the ideals of the community?
If you can answer that question, folks, then you're smarter than I am, because I didn't understand it until a few minutes ago. A great forum community isn't easy. A great forum community is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say "You want a healthy community? Let's see you acknowledge a poster whose words make your blood boil, who's posting center thread and advocating in all capital letters that which you would spend a lifetime opposing with your own. You want to claim this forum as a community of greatness? Then the symbol of that greatness can't just be a sticky; the symbol also has to be one of its forum members exercising her right to question that sticky in protest. Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your threads. Then, you can stand up and sing about the "forum with a truly healthy community". I've known ssj12 for several months now, and I've been operating under the assumption that the reason he devotes so much time and energy to making useless stickies was that he simply didn't get it. Well, I was wrong. ssj12's problem isn't that he doesn't get it. ssj12's problem is that he can sticky it!
We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, ssj12 is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and stickying it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you create an issue. You gather a group of young, hardcore, moderate-posting posters who remember with longing a simpler time, and you talk to them about games and old-school values and character. And then you wave a poorly researched news story in front of them and you scream about duty and you tell them that's to blame for their hobby's problems, and you go on the forum and make a sticky about it.
GAMERS (Gamers Against Making Extraneously Retarded Stickies) will fight that kind of sticky mismanagement for as long as its members have post counts.
Become a GAMER and fight for your right to a video gaming forum free of useless stickies.
