Forums - Gaming Discussion - "Biggest drop in quality" sequels

SSBB is a game that you felt dissapointed paying full price for? It's pack full of stuff! Possibly one of the best Nintendo games quantity-wise.

Well, yeah.  It felt more like Super Smash Bros Melee 1.5 than a full sequel to me.  Subspace Emissary was nice, but didn't make a whole lot of sense in all honesty, and otherwise it was SSBM with final smashes and tripping.

Feel like I'm beginning to derail this thread with my opinions though, so I'll just leave it at that :P.

Super Smash Bros. Melee -> Super Smash Bros Brawl (COME AT ME, BROS!)

I've felt let down by a lot of sequels over the years, especially when the games that came before them are among my favourites of all time.

No because... that's just not right.

Its not even concievable that Brawl is worse then Melee. Is it not the exact same game/formula but better graphics and more of everything?

Metroid: Other M. Going from a good game (Metroid Prime 3: Corruption) to....Other M, is like going from a new york steak to a cooked rat. On a stick.

It will be interesting if anybody on here knows what im talking about, but canfal hearts 2 was a HUGE drop in quality over vandal hearts...

Welcom to the world of fighting games. The fact that it didn't benefit from a graphical generation leap probably aided in your opinion no?

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire > Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

Yup, you read that correctly.

I think you read that wrong. He's saying Brawl is the terrible sequel, coming from Melee.

SSB64 > Melee was a great improvement, in my opinion. Better in pretty much every way. Melee to Brawl was sort of a...trade off, but we got ripped off in the trade. While some things about Brawl were better (more characters, no exact clones, better music, graphics and items, ect), we lost the balance of the gameplay, the speed and the techniques Melee had that made it a competitive community.

Just my opinion here, but I'd also like to list Megaman 5 > Megaman 6.
