Voter Fraud, does it happen?

I have seen many arguments on here claiming its not a problem, but when stories like this pop up what should we be thinking?

According to county documents, Richardson’s absentee ballot was accepted on Nov. 1, 2012 along with her signature. On Nov. 11, she told an official she also voted at a precinct because she was afraid her absentee ballot would not be counted in time.

“There’s absolutely no intent on my part to commit voter fraud,” said Richardson. . . .

The board’s documents also state that Richardson was allegedly disruptive and hid things from other poll workers on Election Day after another female worker reported she was intimidated by Richardson. . . .

During the investigation it was also discovered that her granddaughter, India Richardson, who was a first time voter in the 2012 election, cast two ballots in November.

Richardson insists she has done nothing wrong and promises to contest the charges: “I’ll fight it for Mr. Obama and for Mr. Obama’s right to sit as president of the United States.”"

So not only does she admit to doing it, but thiks nothing is wrong and that she did it correctly. So did her daughter. So how many others do this? Should voter ID's be pushed more?

There are better cases of voter fraud then that. There are plenty of examples of Illegal aliens voting.

"A CBS4/Miami Herald analysis of information supplied by Miami-Dade shows a large number of the potential non-citizens voters cast ballots in the past — including the 2000 election, when the presidency was decided by just over 500 votes."

Note for Liberals:   Since most illegal aliens from Florida are Cubans there is no gurantee that those illegal alien votes weren't what won the election for Bush.  (Cubans vote Republican due to Republicans harshness towards Cuba.)

When people say there are no cases of voter fraud, what they really mean is there are no cases of people found guilty of voter fraud. There are very few (though not zero) cases of this because well...

A) Nobody really investigates it unless given proof, nobody just goes over the voter roster and investigates EVERYBODY that would be expensive as hell and stupid.

B) Even if they find such cases, your spending tens of thousands of dollars to prosecute one individual vote. That again is expensive as hell and stupid.

Which is why voter ID laws really are the only thing that makes sense.

I found it mind-boggling when I discovered american voting ballots were written in both english and spanish. Who knows exactly why they need those...

Oh, it's more than that. Any district that has a registered voter that speaks a non-English language as their primary language is required by law to get a translator for that language, whatever it may be. Leads to major cities needing things like Farsi, Cambodian, Urdu, or French Creole to name a few.

What a great way to create redundant jobs^^

How would these people be able to vote in first place without knowing english? Here in Brazil it's nearly impossible to get citizenship and thus voting rights without full knowledge of portuguese. Having the ballouts in another language would be unthinkable, to say at least. 

Edit - just read our constitution and perhaps you can get it without knowning portuguese, but considering you need 15 uninterrupted years here to acquire citizenship, one could argue it's near impossible. But people from countries speaking portuguese can get it very quickly, with one ininterrupted year. 

If you have a very lax system for registering voters, then you run into problems with people who shouldn't vote, actually voting. The place where the fraud is with the voter is one where a person isn't prevented from voting more than once. If it is done right, then you would only have one vote.

If you want to stop voter registration fraud it is NOT done by checking ID at the voting area, it is done when you register. And yes, there is a chance at voter irregularities with that. BUT the whole voter fraud thing is NOT about legitimate voting, it is about keeping individuals who won't vote Republican, away from the voting area. It is a political power play above about everything else. And if you don't think so, well then you do have a problem. And I can tell this, because you can guess where a person stands on a lot of issues if they keep harping on this. Check what thranx has written about political in the past, and you see.

In short, you are a political tool to advance the agenda of a political party. Thranx, you are a tool, congrats!
