they already had partership with bing on maps...

But isnt Bing now using Nokia maps?

No, Microsoft licenced Nokia's geographical database. Nokia Maps, which have more features than Bing Maps, is exclusive to Nokia's products.

No, new Nokia maps are in all WP8 phones. They replaced bing maps with it.

This will add some much needed search market share to Bing - Yahoo but in a grand scheme of things, this really doesn't hurt Google very much.

Now if Apple goes ahead and dumps Google search on the iphone/ipad like they did with maps and replaces it with Facebook + Bing + Yahoo search or some home cooked search engine, Google has a real problem on their hands.

Don't see why Apple would do that as Windows Phone is a competitor. So might as well use the best search engine out there, Google.

Even if they do drop it, there are millions of android devices out there.

It's because Android is seriously cramping Apples style with android and a lot of the data mining user is known for comes from the iphone itself. It all comes down to who owns the search data...which is Google currently on the iphone.  I'm sure Microsoft if desperate enough would gladly give control to all search data with Apple in order to get Google off iPhone.

Speaking of "best" search engine,  this new Facebook Graph search offers things even mighty Google can't match. Facebook reach is massive and if you are a facebook user (89% of iPhoe users are) you can search for things like..." What restourant do my friends go to when they are in Paris". Google has nothing to they can offer at the moment to match that level of personalization.

But I agree, as a standalone search, Google is best.

Good for MS. Bad for Google.

No other way to spin this news.

Facebook is for people who cannot make real friends!

Dumbest thing I've read today and I don't even have facebook (anymore). It's for a lot more things like oranizing events and planning trips and parties...WITH friends.

I could've sworn bing was part of facebook for years? What's new here? Genuine question.

Google is the default setting, but you can change the search engine in Safari's setting, choosing between Google, Yahoo or Bing. I've been using Yahoo search on my iPhone for awhile now.

Phonecall, discuss when together etc.   What sort of idiot discusss thing like trips or parties on facebook, asking to be robbed while away.

Though my first post was in jest anyway.

I am not sure youre doing Facebook correctly. Why would your friends rob you... Unless you add just about anyone to your facebook or keep your profile or party invite open to public.

I don't see how this is good news unless you area MSFT fan or investor....the majority of people use google and that is a fact. So in the end this is a loss for consumers.

(I'm assuming Google+ is the reason the decided to go with Bing?)

Please explain how?, i also use google but this wont effect me in anyway as google is just a search engine for me at the end of the day.

If google falls i will use whatever the next search engine is, no effect on me once so ever, unless your invested in google somehow??.

Google is most peoples search engine of choice. Being forced to use Bing through Facebook isn't a good thing if you are used to Google and if you think it yields better search results. It's just a choice of preference, something Facebook should give its users. Let them use whichever search engine they want.

Let me get this straight. People's own photos and whatever ends up on google and with no way to remove it. However with Bing, they now have the ability to do so?

This isnt some Bing powered search bar on Facebook...understand what this does before you start crying foul how you cant use google. A lot of cutom work went in to this. Also go read the stories on engadget about this and you will see that facebook would love to work with google but they are not too cooperative. Microsoft was more willing to work with facebook on this project. The End.
