Forums - Sales Discussion - PAL Week 2

Why on earth would you expect systems with less than 5% of the install base of the others to have games among the top sellers? That's silly.

The 360, Wii, and PS3 all had games in the top 40 in a similar time frame after launch.  The Wii U also had a sku with a bundled game which accounted for 60% of launch week hardware.  The barrier to enter the top 40 is probably 1.5k or less.  That means if the Wii U hardware split is the same, it only needed 2.5k sales for a game to enter the top 40.  What happened to the guy who was so confident that the Wii U was selling out that you now think expecting 2.5k a week is silly?

I was gonna tell him the samething, the wii u is basically dead at arrival, its like it never came out in europe.

i´ve called it since the beggining...

The market doesnt want Wii U or Vita when 360 and Ps3 can do better things than those Consoles...

Why would people waste money on Wii U when they can get better Consoles with better games, better online, better support, Better 1st party, better everything ??

Ps360 will keep their dominance until Next Gen Arrives, then Wii U will be just like the Wii, no support from anyone, the only difference is that not even Nintendo will sell anymore on their platform.

its dead, just like Vita. At least on Europe. Americas will Follow. Japan will buy that thing though.

Nintendo had luck with Wii, they were allways last on each generation, luck doesnt stand forever, they had luck 4years, they will be back to their place now once again - LAST.

They will keep dominanting where they are best, handhelds.

Regarding to GT and FZ:

For the gamers only have PS3, if they want to play racing simuation game, which one is their chocie? GT5, GT5 and GT5 in the entire generation.

On the other hand, for 360 gamers, they can choose FZ2, FZ3, FZ4 and FZ HORIZON. They will feel the improvements in each title and have the brand new experience in each title.

I think it is a great and smart way to have more LTD sales for one game: Just don't release the sequel and make gamers have no other choice. For sure, in this case, the cumulative sales will be very high comparing to the competition title which is refreshed in every year.

On a Side note:

Great 360 and Ps3 SW all across Europe... Nice to see Halo 4 Charting everywhere... Halo is getting bigger now since the decline from Halo 3 to ODST and Reach.

But its finnally back, i expect it to Reach at least 9M this year if its not bundled, i think MS will bundle 360 with Halo 4 and Horizon for holidays 2013 and price cut the 360 since 720 is coming this year.

360 will sell pretty well this year and outsell Xbox 3 but only this year.

GT5 is a beast and will Reach 10m this year... What a monster Sony has here, too bad PD can only make games from 3 to 3 or 4 to 4 years.

very good post i have been saying the samething. gamers now more then ever are really aware of what's going on in the gaming industry because of xbox live and psn, online play has attracted a huge crowd and has turned a casual gamer into a hardcore , sony and microsoft better have enough systems to sell cause they will sell out like hot cakes, imagine gamer turns on 360, go to xbox live and see al kind of avertisement for the new xbox with mind blowing graphics and tech, gamer is like wow i'm gonna be there day one, time for an upgrade.

- Eh, the Wii U hasn't found its way yet. In the future, things will be fine.

Why would people waste money on Wii U when they can get better Consoles with better games, better online, better support, Better 1st party, better everything ??

- I can agree with this to a degree, but again, we are early in its life. The PS3 was a disaster in the beginning and look at what it's producing today.

- I think this will end up 100% wrong. Unlike the Wii, the system stands a fighting chance technically and already has 3rd parties on board. I don't think the WiiU will ever be as dominant as the Wii, but it will not be unsupported either.

its dead, just like Vita. At least on Europe. Americas will Follow. Japan will buy that thing though.

- Nope. Neither the WiiU nor Vita are dead, although in the case of the latter, I'm losing faith that it will accomplish what the PSP did.

Nintendo had luck with Wii, they were allways last on each generation, luck doesnt stand forever, they had luck 4years, they will be back to their place now once again - LAST.

- They had luck with the Wii, agreed, but they were only ever last place with one console, the Gamecube.

They will keep dominanting where they are best, handhelds.

- Remains to be seen if the WiiU picks up no steam, which I believe it will.

My take.

Wii U hasn't found its way yet, what does that even mean and anybody with some common sense would know that the ps3 started off  bad because of its price.

Well, I never disclosed why the PS3 had a disastrous start, that wasn't the point. And, the WiiU hasn't found its way yet, means exactly what it says. It's still competing with consoles that have solidified audiences. The best of it is ahead, and it's definitely not the "failure" that some are pegging it.

nexten is all but confirmed to be a 10x jump in graphics, not to mention tech, how is wii u gonna compete, its basically a current gen console with a touch screen controller, i don't dont see how nintendo is gonna turn this around but what ever.

Next gen started with the WiiU. Always bugs me to see this fact disregarded. And whatever leap the 720 and PS4 have over the WiiU is moot, especially when specific 3rd party devs have said the system is well equipped to compete. Could it have been premature talk, sure, but I imagine they knew the specs long ago.

As for how you don't see Nintendo turning it around - I can't stress enough how much that was said of the PS3. It may be no PS2, but it's no longer digging holes for Sony. The WiiU will have even better fortunes than that, because it doesn't have that high price tag nor will it bleed billions.

yea that was said for the ps3 but i always knew if sony lowered the price they would be back in the game, which i can't say the same for the wii u and please show me where third party devs have said it can compete with the next xbox 8 or ps4, regardless the fact of the matter is even current gen port are inferior,  maybe it can do ps4 and xbox 8 games in sub hd and running at 10 fps, even metro last develpoer comment on bad the cpu is.
