Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 720 launch and 360 price-cut in the same year?

Pity the author of the thread didn't post a single argument telling us why he considers this to be stupid. I will get a X360 once I find the 250 GB model for 125-150 Euro.

Launching the 720 as well as cutting the price of the 360 in the same year would effect sales of each other.

which would you rather have?

would you rather have them drop the 360 price and save 720 for next years 2014 holiday?

have them release 720 this year and keep 360 at $200?

OR would you rather have them drop the price of the 360 this year and have them release 720 a bit later THIS YEAR?

just curious..

360 was sold for a profit since 2008. They stubbornly kept the price as high as they could since.

Now that the next Xbox is coming, its finally time to drop it. 360 buyers in 2013/14 will buy 720 in the next 4 years. Great strategy.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Nope, PS360 will both get pricecuts, since PS4 and 720 will only be purchased by early adopters, it won't affect them.

Fixed :) It has been a LONG time coming to say the least. They were making about $75 per console back in late 2007, then cut the price a lot in 2008, then roled out the new models in 2010 was it? Geesh this generation has been long, I'm losing track of everything. I went to E3 in 2010 and 2011 I believe and 2010 was the new console design.

Anyways, what I was leading to is the fact that MS has been posting huge profits for the EDD (Xbox 360 product division) the last few years while still doing heavy R&D on the new xbox, kinect, illumiroom, etc is a testiment to the kind of insane profits they are actually making!

Approaching 4.5 years since the last price cut come E3 2013. It needs to happen and happen big.

Yeah, take the ridiculously high price at this point in time AND add millions of Americans paying just to play online and boom! You've got profit.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Three words do it now
