Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What will be the first non-Nintendo Wii U game to hit a million sales?

Sadly Just Dance - everything else will be lucky to even make it to a million.

It'll be Nintendo domination and not in a good way.

Are you talking lifetime or just until the end of this year?  Because you should take a look at the other million sellers that aren't Nintendo for the other Nintendo consoles.

None, ever. ZombiU is only doing good because it was a launch title and I doubt it will reach a million. Without all the casuals of the Wii only hardcore heavy hitters have any chance of making it and usually all of those are made by Nintendo. Therefore, none.

Not even games like say Just Dance 5?

I'm predicting those party games will feel at home on the next XBOX. If Microsoft goes for the kinect crowd and the 720 is subsidized for cheaper then the Wii U's base price, why would casuals get a Wii U? Meanwhile hardcore gamers caring about graphics would get the PS4 or PC. Factor in the super cheap Ouya and that means hardcore Nintendo fans will be the primary Wii U owners. After E3 once we understand the other consoles I might need to re-evaluate this if they are different then I expect.

I think Lego City

wanna make a bet? I say at least 1 3rd party publisher will sell over 1m on Wii U...

After E3 I'd make a bet. Right now its pure madness to predict the future of consoles. Next gen has like 7 systems for pete's sake!

Lol, seriously?

Anyway, ZombiU might make it, but I think Lego City Stories will be a surprise hit and make it there much faster.

I'm going by what happened with the Wii with actual big franchises

All I see are

-3 Just Dance titles
-A bunch of other casual games like Michael Jackson Experience, Zumba Fitness and a Call of Duty game.
-Disney's Epic Mickey (which was ok)
-Guitar Hero 3 (which is a dead series now), Rock band and other music games
-EA Sports......I wouldnt brag about this....
-Lego Games
-Skylander Spyro

There were a few good ones but nothing spectacular like

-Resident Evil 4
-Monster Hunter Tri (imo it wasnt that great and yes I had played it)
-Golden Eye 007

Everything else is Nintendo first party titles...and a whole bunch of casual/music/sports games.

I just hope the Wii-U will have a better third party support even if it doesnt get the same games as the other next gen systems.

So basically you were exaggerating when you were saying only one game was going to make it.  I do see that not very many 3rd party games really break a million on Nintendo platforms, but Nintendo is trying harder to win over 3rd parties so I think it is very likely they will be more successful than last gen.

Even if the next "XBOX" ends up being cheaper than the Wii U, the people who buy NIntendo products are not split up between these idiotic labels you're using "casual" and "hardcore."  People created these labels, and since they were created by people other than the ones who are being labeled, they wont act exactly the way you expect them to.  If this happens, it seems like you're saying the only attraction to the Wii U is its "cheaper price" and "gimmick."  Other than that, only Nintendo fans would buy it.
You should know this isn't true for any console.  People also tend to buy on a whim.  They see something, it intruiges them, they  buy it.  The Wii U is its own thing, the XBOX will be its own thing, as well as any other console.  Each will have its own appeal regardless of whether you're a fan, whether it's "cheaper" or has a "better gimmick."   So I can guarantee you that when you said is NOT what will happen.

The Wii U uses Wiimotes, the Just Dance type games will stay (plus whatever things you can do with the Gamepad).

The Ouya is irrelevant since that's pretty much warranty to be a failure, there are multiple factors that will make that happen. The only "new" console that might have a change against the big 3 is the SteamBox, but the market Valve is targeting are the PC gamers, which won't find many reason to buy it since they will already have a gaming PC.
