David Cage has said that “sequels kill creativity and innovation”, adding that “many people want the same and if that’s what you offer them, they will gladly buy it”.
David Cage: “sequels kill creativity”
“The result is very simple,” explains Cage. “Gamers invest money in publishers having no interest in innovation”. So according to Cage we get keep getting repeats and numbered installments because that’s what we pay for. “[Gamers] encourage [publishers] to keep making the same game every Christmas, and everybody’s happy”.
For Cage that’s not the way to do it. “If you’re interested in innovation and believe that games could be more than shooters, then you realise that sequels kill creativity and innovation”. That’s why Beyond: Two Souls is going to be different. “We don’t give people what they expect. We want to give them something they want without knowing they want it”.

Can anyone translate this better.
When asked about the lack of games in a post-event interview with GameTrailer TV’s Geoff Keighley, Microsoft’s Don Mattrick said: “Look, Xbox is created by gamers for gamers, so that’s our core. That’s our DNA. That’s what we do. We decided that we were going to do an unveil, tell people the name, let them see the box, let them see our vision. And we’re going to show such amazing content at E3. Be planned to be blown away.”

David Cage calling out Call of Duty?? IT'S ON!

So he's telling people not to buy sequels? And that we should let game series die after the first entry. Ridiculous comment, in makes sense but still stupid, so no Mario Bros 3, half-life 2, team fortress 2.

I think he's calling out the annual franchises that are constantly being released with very little to no innovation.

Whilst I usually think this guy is a pretentious clown. On this I agree with him. Pretty sick of the annual rehash of certain games. On sports games by all means re release when there is a significant upgrade, but otherwise just some much cheaper DLC would suffice to update player/club data.
