Yes same here, but I've been reading a lot of comments and it seems some people are a bit tired of the Greek Mythology. So I'm wondering what direction SSM will take in the future. The good thing is unlike Ubisoft and the AC series SSM will have time to absorb the feedback before preparing the next game.

Now that Santa Monica Studios is set to release God of War: Ascension next week, their eyes appear set on their next endeavor: the PlayStation 4.

For now, they're still dedicated to the PlayStation 3, especially since this installment of God of War features online for the first time in the series. Mark Simon, lead game designer, confirmed this to Eurogamer:

"To me [the PS4] is imagination land. We haven't touched it. We're not even concentrating on it. All we're concentrating on is we know we release in a week. I imagine we're going to be on our forums talking to players about the stuff they're experiencing in multiplayer and trying to address that stuff immediately. We're going to have half of our team ready to go for that stuff."

However, Mark did show his excitement for the new PlayStation hardware: "Well, the hardware itself has 16 times the memory we had on the previous console. The hardware takes a lot of the shackles off in terms of visuals ... If you give us enough time and you give us those specs, we will blow you away."

For now, all we can do is enjoy the titles that the legendary Sony-exclusive developer has created, and we also have the newest of the developer's vision hitting our PlayStation 3's next week, and, from what PSU's Steven Williamson found in his review, "Ascension delivers an action-packed, gloriously-produced, freak-bashing extravaganza with an addictive multiplayer component to boot." We have our work cut out for us in Ascension, and we can only dream at this point exactly what Santa Monica Studios could do with the massive numbers that the PS4 will tote.

Another story indeed. :D Yea I would like for them to get into a new mytho. People seem very interested in Egypt as a setting, and I'm curious if they will continue to use Kratos in some form if that did occur. Either way, I want the series to continue in some form, but not in its current form. I also get the sense Ascension was a test for future titles in the series as well (MP).

agreed and agreed, and i can see how Kratos could be used in a future GOW. and even being the lead in a title based in Egypt, but it really leads to him seeking retribution through all the gods to try and change his past.

2 problems with that though

1. if god of war would have ended differently kratos would have more of a reason for retribution.

2. he had hope when GOW3 ended.

Well said, and that's why people have been calling for a reboot. I mean, I REALLY don't trust spectral Athena, at all. So to me there's more to her than just 'good intentions' with her enlightment. That tells me more could be said. But as you pointed out he has hope now and he more or less did what he had to do. The majority of reviews for GOW: A have said the same thing - chill Kratos is okay, but they want angry don't give a shit Kratos in their games. It doesn't bother me as long as it fits the setting, but it seems that's how people like him.

it's sad to say but Kratos can only exist in Vita spinoffs, that get ported to PS4 lol. a reboot doesn't sound bad. i'd like to see David Jaffes destroy all the god reigning in Christianity idea come to fruition which would have been his version of GOW3.

man other then a reboot, GOW needs a new character, and that could be Kratos brother that was mentioned in the first GOW, which is where Specctral Athena comes in. i'm sure you can write the rest/see where i'm going.
