Forums - Sony Discussion - LBP & Sackboy are huge (LBP3 in the makings?)

Little big planet done alot already, I'm not sure what they could add to make a little big planet 3

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

LBP is my favorite Sony series since they decided to abandon the Jak & Daxter series in favor of freaking "Uncharted." So it's good to know that's it's successful.

GUYS THIS IS WAY OVER TRACKED! Don't make excuses!

Artical say 8.5 units! This is over tracked by nearly 10 million!!!! THIS IS A HUGE FLOP AND NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED! about 9 people downloaded 7 million DLC each which is very impressive though. Thats the only good news

LOL! I almost missed that.

I love LittleBigPlanet more and more every week. It's easily become my favourite new IP of the generation; one of my favourites of all time.

But we don't need LittleBigPlanet 3 any time soon. 2 still keeps me entertained on a weekly basis. I plan on playing LBP Vita for quite a long time. And I haven't even bought Karting yet.

Don't need anything new from the series until at least 2014, imo.

Do these numbers include the copies that were given away for free after the PSN Hack?

I think the biggest news is the DLC download number..holy cow. Must make them some good money

60M/8.5M = 7 downloads per purchased game.   way higher than i would have thought.

not sure how to interpret 60M into revenue.  there are some free downloads like santa but there are also expensive downloads like the move pack that i assume also falls into this number (and is ~$10 if i remember right).  between 25-75M in dlc revenue?  hard to say overall, but i've probably put about $50 into expansion packs and costumes myself.

yep I mean even if we are really conservative with the estimate it will still come out to be an impressive number...the LBP community must be a pretty strong one.

After hearing that LBP Vita actually might be the best in the series I think Sony has found a new dev who can take over the franchise

not only LBP - they also did the muppet and move packs which i'd argue are both better than LBP2 itself.  MM did a fantastic job at getting the game up and running but LBP2 was too much of a circle jerk for me; "let me show you want i can do" moreso than "here's a great level to play".  As far as i'm concerned LBP is a tarsier series now.

I have to check the numbers again... this article is OLD.

This article doesnt include Black Friday for one, so its hardly over tracked.

Now if we take into account how many times LBP2 has been downloaded from PSPlus, we would have a rather astronomical number of LBP2 Copies out there (Close to 8 or 9 million alone) And before that, LBP2 was purchasable on PSN as well as retail, no one tracks Digital Distribution. LBP2 alone is in the hands of probably around 10 million Playstation players on the PS3.

The Little Big Planet franchise is actually the most played series (Time) of this generation believe it or not.

7,000,000+ created levels so far...Lets say about 300,000 of those are Heart for Heart levels that take only about 15 minutes of super easy work to create...

That's 4,500,000 Minutes on those crap levels alone...

Lets say there are 4,000,000 average levels that take the average player about 5 hours to create (not long at all)...

That's 1,200,000,000 (BILLION) Minutes of play time to create those OK-Good levels.

there are about 2,000,000 Good-great levels players have made, and coming from my experience and other experienced players I have met, those levels can take well in excess of 10 Hours to create, but we will say 10 Hours is the average...

Thats an additional 1,200,000,000 Minutes of create time.

Now, the final Million created levels can be considered Advanced-Amazing, those levels and games some players make that defy explanation (People creating fully functional RPG's with story's for instance) ...Personally, in my time with LBP, creating something like that takes an absurd amount of time, were talking DAYS of work at LEAST...

Just for the sake of argument we will say it takes a Full Day to create these levels (A SEVERE UNDERESTIMATION) !!

Thats about 1,440,000,000 Minutes of create time from those million levels alone...

Add all of that up!

1.2B+1.2B+1.44B+4,500,000 = 3,844,500,000 Minutes of create time, or 2,670,000 DAYS of play time!

And that is JUST the time it takes to create the PUBLISHED levels.

If you take into account the amount of time players of spent in Create mode on levels they never finished or published than you would have a number that DWARVES that play time!

(Personally I have spent 3,000 hours in LBP and only published two levels...I have a hard time finishing what I create cause I always have a new idea brewing)

Thats not even taking into account the time it takes players to complete the single player campaigns NOR the amount of time spent PLAYING published levels! (Published Plays are in excess of 50,000,000)

We're talking numbers that put Halo and Call of Duty to shame.

...uhh...ill just put my favorite quote of all time here.

"Welcome to Pain, the second of three...You have dealt the first...now deal with me!!"

That dlc is really high! I myself have downloaded about 6 or 7 dlc content from LBP, like the MGS pack and the final fantasy costumes etc and I don't even consider myself that big of a fan, I just liked the costumes so I brought them lol
