Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What would make Xbox LIVE's $60 fee an unquestionable value?

I'll go ahead and say that Xbox live online is garbage. It lags, there are no dedicated servers for almost any game. In fact I believe PSN has more games with dedicated servers than Xbox live does. Anyone who says PSN lags more than Xbox live is kidding themselves since both have most of their games run on PvP servers. With that being said... I do see value in Xbox live. I hardly pay over $35 for 12 months of Xbox live. With that $35 I get to hang out with most of my friends online, get to play halo multilayer online, watch TV on my Xbox by using it as a cable box(I don't have that coax output in my room), and generally 3rd party games run better on Xbox (see black ops 2). Also I really like the new Xbox live awards feature. Somehow I went from having 0 Microsoft points to having over 3000. I don't mind paying $35 for all of that.

What makes Xbox Live better than PSN or Steam?

I haven't used it extensively in almost 3 years now so I'm not familiar with it anymore.

It already is.

The fact that someone decides to give away something almost similar for free is irrelevant.

Don't value it? Then don't pay for it. Simple.

It is unquestionable because if you want to go online you have no choice but to pay the fee. This fact alone means most people need to justify paying for a service that is needed to get 100% out of the product.

Microsoft are on to a winner here.

Don't forget online games exclusive to PS3 and Wii are bad. This makes the superior online games found on 360 more desireable. Millions of people rather pay to play the games they enjoy rather than settle with something free.

Off the top of my head... popular games not found on PC or PS3. That's a good enough reason for millions to go with Live.

I think the point is really being missed with the mindless back and forth going on here. Obviously if you ALREADY have live there is no point is saying what they need to do to justify paying for it, you already are! For me it would probably take something similar to ps plus.

Connection, party chat, games, and the ease.  Let's face it the only online competitive multiplayer game that PSN has had for the last few years that people actively play is call of duty & BF. Call of Duty is superior on XBL and BF is superior on PC.   That leaves PSN where?

Finally someone has said it. I've yet to play a good online PS3 exclusive game. They are all just flat out bad. EVery single one of them

Define acitve. Even Red Dead Redemption has plenty of people playing whenever I get on.

It's kinda sad that most people are debating PSN vs XBL instead of actually answering the question like you have, Kratos.  We've had enough threads bashing the competition.  Anyway, you said it would be worth $60 a year for you if they offered discounts (they do already offer special offers for Gold members every month) and some free downloadable games.  I can get behind that idea.

Competitive multiplayer. I forgot BF.  Im talking about large groups of online players.  Im going to use gears for example.  It is extremely active early on but now Gears 3 is pretty low.

Anyways this is going to be another one of those pointless PSN vs XBL threads so I'm leaving.  We have way to many of these threads.
