I think you mean last generation, sir.

"was"

In that case, he has a conflicting sentence. "was" is past tense. But "this generation" is present tense. Either way, "this generation" should instead say "last generation."

Depends what he meant by 'this'.

If by "this", he meant the 8th generation, then he's wrong. The DS is not a part of the 8th generation.

If by "this", he meant the 7th generation, then he's wrong. This generation is the 8th generation, not the 7th generation.

Neither. 'This' refers to DS' generation.

Depends on what you enjoy, really.

JRPGs? Yes.

WRPGs? No.

Overall? No.

Look at PC releases over the past 7 years for RPGs... For console JRPGs, it was (loved my DS when I had it for DQIV and FFIII among others).

Going forward, iOS/Android will be the go-to consoles for both JRPGs and WRPGs, given what has been released recently and what is ahead.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Strange definition. If I made a thread saying "The SNES had the best games this generation", most people would consider it grammatically flawed. But, if that's your definition, then I cannot change your mind.

Also, the DS's generation is the 7th generation.

I'm just grateful for both DS and PSP for delivering on the RPG front -- strategy RPGs included.

It's weird that a console mainstay has now drifted over to handheld systems.

I love both JRPGS and WRPGS but the DS's selection is unmatched this gen.

Yeah, Demon's Souls, Dark Soul, Mass Effect 1-3, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout, Fallout New Vegas, Star Ocean the Last Hope, FF XIII and co did really well on the DS...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I must disagree. I actually don't remember many DS RPGs : FFTA2 was magic for sure, Fire Emblem and Pokemon were good as usual but beyond that... I played far more JPRGs on PS3/PSP. But as I import from Japan, it may be purely circumstantial...

I can't speak for tonymarraffa, but I imagine he meant the overall selection, and not the most high-profile RPGs. Although you could argue Pokemon is more high profile than Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc. It certainly sold better.

Yes, DS was #1 for JRPGs last gen, PSP #2.
