To be honest, I think this is awesome... 7 inch portable with DPAD and buttons that plays emulators and fun portable smartphone games. On top of that it has Dolphin and Chrome(?) Android browser, a proper email client and all of the cool apps android has to offer...

I'd get this over PS Vita in a heartbeat.

Only thing that's slightly dissapointing is the dpad, which looks crap lol...not Street Fighter worthy for sure.

Funny, at first I was all negative... then I hit up their page (link in OP) and it actually looks like a very nice tablet/gaming device. I am now thinking that if the price is reasonable, I'll like grab one.

From your link, it says the price is currently set at 149.99€ for Europe.

Not really seeing the need to get one if you already have an Andriod smartphone or tablet.

I bought a Archos way back. Little did I know, they nickle and diming you to unlock features, at premium price.
Their hardwares are cheap, though. Just be prepared to get robbed on the software front.

Can you be more specific?

I hope the display isn't as crap as in their new Archos 10XS Gen10. That device itself looks really good, but the display is so dark, low res and not even IPS and when I tried it in a shop the touchscreen barely worked.. might be a broken unit though as I tried their 80XS gen9 before and that one worked quite well (but it has an awfull screen aswell).

The RK3066 the Gamepad has as a main chip (with integrated mali-400 4core gpu) is pretty good for gaming and surfing and I've been trying to find a good cheap tablet with that one, but you shouldn't compare it to the tegra3+SGX543mp4+ combination in the Vita - it's not even half as powerful as that

its just a device make to play andriod mobile games with physical control after all...

For example, they tried to get money to play some codecs on their older media players.  Also using your older archos with tv was not possible without an expensive cradle. Small things like that.

CFW is the answer. :)

huh... I must of missed / overlooked it. Or my page is based on US stuff which probably doesn't show european prices. But that is good as it means US should also be $149. nice.

Your point? Android also has Onlive, so you could play a lot of 3rd party console games too. Plus you have all the emulators. Finally, you have no clue how 3rd parties will move with supporting mobile environments in 2013 and beyond. I think they will be very aggressive going forward.

What come something like this emulate?

I'm assuming the usual Atari/NES/SNES/Genesis/Playstation/N64/arcade stuff?

Would PSP or DS emulation be possible?

Go to play.google.com and search for emulators.

Yeah, I paid $30 just to play rmvb :/

And that was the last time I want to have anything to do with Archos.

(Still no CFW since I am being too nice/lazy.)
