Forums - Nintendo Discussion - ZombiU Has "Generally Favorable reviews" on Metacritic - Stop All Red Steel Comparisons

You give your opinions with such authority and confidence. I still remember that one time you said anyone who isn't excited for the 3DS isn't a real gamer.

Anyway, an 8 is a great score. It's crazy to expect everyone to enjoy the game (even if they like the genre), let alone consider it great.

That's just my avatar... respect mah authoritah!!!

Metascore: 75/100

Red Steel: 63/100

So for those who need convincing, I think this is solid evidence that ZombiU is generally considered to be decent, unlike that one mediocre Ubisoft-developed Wii launch title. Moreover, I fully expect the game to outsell Red Steel, which is sitting at 650K according to VGC. Also I bet a sequel is likely, though I think Ubisoft might make it a multiplatform title.

I highly doubt a sequel will be multiplatform, mostly based on the fact that the game is called Zombi"U"

As far as the appeal of ZombiU goes, I really enjoyed the game. Whatever the metascore happens to be doesn't change that thankfully :P

VGChartz's info for Red Steel is incomplete, ever since an update a while ago. If you have a look at Red Steel's data, you'll see that it has "N/A" sales in Europe from 2006 through 2010.

I can't be certain of the correct number, but I am quite certain that, prior to the disappearance of the European data, it was over 1 million. I think it might have been approaching 1.1 million.

Please red steel 2 is not better than zombi u, them two games were jokes

I really liked Red Steel 2. If Zombi U is similar, then I will be happy to purchase it.

Man, I hope this evolves into an exclusive franchise on the Wii U! I highly doubt that, but I'm pretty sure it'll become a new franchise...

Seconded. Didn't they say that they were already discussing a sequel? I hope they do it, I'm sure it'll be even better.

Well, using that logic this game/franchise can only exist on Wii U - even if it really takes off and becomes a smash hit... It could never appear on another console ever again. :P

OR they can do a "Rambo". What the name of the first Rambo movie? Look it up.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

That's the best part of sequels; they can take what was good, keep it, and fix what was broken!

Even so, I still expect ZombiU to beat Red Steel's sales within two years from now.

Honestly... I really don't understand people rating this game below an 8. I say 9, but below 8 is just not appropriate.

If you don't like survival horror, that's one thing and you should've done your homework before buying... or rented.

But, The game makes sense in every way. Could more money been put in to art? Sure, but I'm not going to knock it much for that as its a new IP on a new console. Does anyone expect a company to invest $20million in that type of game? Maybe if this was being put on an established console with 50million users. But not for a launch title. Even given that, it still looks really good and the dark gloomy atmosphere fits it to me anyways. Kinda like an older horror movie... which is probably the intended goal.

Then you add in the integration with your friends, random dev team comments in game, scares, fact that it literally gets your heart pumping with anticipation and nervousness, solid and punishing complexity, ...man its just a great game all around.

All ratings should be between 8 and 9 for this game easy.

This ^^

I couldn't have put it better myself. Any score below an 8 is an insult. It's a real shame that the GameSpot, Game Informer, The Globe And Mail (Toronto) (and who the fuck are they and why does their review score get included in the Metascore..?!?) and EGM in particular have pretty much ruined the chances of the game getting a Metascore of 80+.

If you read some of these reviews with a lower score it seems like the reviewers were expecting a CoD Zombies/Left 4 Dead/Dead Island kind of affair, when Ubisoft right from the beginning have billed it as an old-school survival horror game.
