I dont like this premise. Humanity degraded from a space faring race to one city on Earth?

Sounds like a mix from the story behind the Brutes in Halo before they joined the Covenant and Gears of War (bombing themselves back to the stone age).

Halo is about Humanity persevering and ascending to their rightful place as protectors of the galaxy. This........just seems depressing. That hovering alien ship only strengthens that humanity is the pet of another alien race.

A story means everything to a sci-fi game.

Most game stories are awful. Even if the story isn't that bad, the storytelling usually is.  Gameplay is everything.

Arguable. Gameplay can be great but in story driven genres such as sci-fi, it could greatly impact sales legs if there is no fan community.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I welcome quality games, I don't care what genre they are. While I'm not convinced that this is a FPS, it wouldn't bother me if it is. I don't play military shooters but I love sci-fi shooters, especially those with a post-apocalyptic flavor. This looks really interesting.

Well, take the story out of Halo and it will still sell. The core mechaincs are excellent, gameplay is smooth, visuals are good etc. The story really isn't 'everything' to it. I don't even know what the story is about beyond master chief being a spartan and the rings in space being weapons and the covenant/flood are enemies, and I've played Halo: CE through to Reach.

Granted it probably sells more copies and has a small (relatively speaking) community of hardcore followers buying special editions and other merchandise  if there's an interesting plot. Other extremely successful games have shown though that there's no real necessity for there to be a strong story for a game to sell, or to build a strong hardcore community. I don't think the FPS/Sci-fi genre is any exception.

To The Moon would like to disagree with you on that

An Indie adventure RPG.

Yeah, I highly doubt Bungie are making a game like that...

i thought you were speaking in general, not just about destiny.

Bungies amazing

Sooo excited to see Destiny though its an MMO

Is this Marathon related? I mean more related than Halo, which was supposed to be not related at all?

Which brings me to my point. Everything stated in the original post points to this being a role playing game, and I mean everything. The tone, the art, the story, and even the setting. If someone had told you this was a Square game rather then a Bungie game. You would immediately call it a new Final Fantasy. Talk about type casting a studio.

Agreed. Good call.

awesome. can't wait to see gameplay
